Does anyone know if there are any Canadian legal Ruger LCP 380 Auto's in Canada? Apparently according to Gun Wiki it has been available since 2011? If so where can you buy them?

Also, if it isn't actually available, would it be possible to import one with a longer custom barrel? How would you go about this and where could you get a custom barrel?

Informally known as the 'Canadian' LCP, a 106mm (4.2in) barrel was fitted to the LCP from 2011 for sale in Canada, where the barrel length must exceed 105mm. Since this point the 4.2in barrel LCP has been a regular production gun for Ruger in the US and Canada.

I call BS on that Wiki article... think they have the revolvers mixed up with the compact semi-auto's. 4.2" barrel would look pretty stupid sticking out of a pistol which normally has a 2.75" barrel installed.

I have to agree as well that they probably are not currently available.

However, would it possible to have a custom 4.2" barrel made for it and then import the complete firearm?

Doubt it would be cost effective and you may not be happy with how it looks on a micro pistol. Might as well just pickup a Grand Power in 380acp if you can find it. Makarov w/106mm barrel or the Browning 380 1911 are options.

That must be the non-restricted prototype;) The barrels on the LCP are a surprisingly narrow profile, so I think that it would look fine if the barrel was extended by 1.4 inches or so.

The difference is that the Ruger LCP is only 9.7 ounces. The Bowning 380 1911 is 18 oz, and the Grand Power or Makarov is about 26 & 27 oz. Basically this translates to the fact that the LCP is much smaller; in general terms the LPC is about 1/2 the size of other sub-compacts. I shot one when I was in the US, and the recoil was stout, which was kinda fun, it would probably be impossible to put a larger caliber in this size of pistol due to the recoil. They are just great fun little pistols.

It looks like it is possible to have a custom barrel made for the Ruger LCP by Innovative Arms LLC.

So, if there aren't currently any Ruger LCP's already in Canada, does anyone know if this make them difficult to import? Would you have to first apply for a FRT number?

Here is picture of custom barrel made for an LCP to convert it to .32 NAA:

i know i got my M&P compact from irungunz and they had already put the stormlake barrel in it for me to make it legal for import.
id call steve (or pat) at irunguns and see if they would get a barrel in for ya as im sure they already carry that gun at their US store.
no FRT would be needed because as long as you have a legal length barrel on it when its imported its just the normal restricted gun, unless im wildly off base.
