Ok!

So for the last few months I’ve been building a GLOCK Carbine in my spare time. I’m getting closer to a finished product and I wanted to know what the CGN community thought. The pictures below are from prototype 2.5. I’m still tweaking the design so I haven’t coated it yet. So the question is what does everyone think? The more critical the better!

I like it, but it needs to be more practical. In it's current form all your getting is a more stable shot, but it needs to have the ability to be more compact as well.

Make that stock foldable and you should be golden.

How sturdy is the pistol in the reciever?
How do you rack the slide while it's in the reciever?

The second question is just as important as the first, if you need to take the gun out and rack the slide and put it back in, bad idea.
The ejection port looks big enough, but I think a 2000 round test will tell you if it really is.

The charging handle is just behind the top rail much like an AR 15! Everything is great with the ejection port and several hundred rounds have been shot without a failure to feed. Also the gun is held firmly in place. A folding stock would also be easy to accommodate because the charging handle is not along the side. Some small design changes need to be made and then I’ll do a several 1000 round test. I'll post pics of that too!

I think it looks great, how about a youtube video to show us all the details. Tools required, installation, maneuverability, tap/rack/bang drills, firing, your thoughts on reliability, etc., etc..

Excellent job, I doubt you can make it shorter, as you work the design you be able to cut back the metal here and there. I suspect you will have to modify the slide to take a cocking handle? Unless it was able to clamp the serration at the back of the slide.

Nice build, did you build it at home or at work in spare time? Do you have a set of plans your going to post here sometime... If you electroplate that, it would look awsome, you'll turn heads by plating in gold or nickle:rockOn:

are you gonna be producing for the market? its a great product. any ideas on cost though?

If there is interest I can do production runs .Everything is laser cut and CNC machined so programs exist for all the part. It’s all a matter of quantity to make production viable. I need to make about 25 units or else it’s not worth the machine shops time to make them. Price is another unknown at this time but the $400 range is what I’m looking at with the current design. I was thinking about making it cheaper by doing more laser cutting and less machining but a total design change would be needed.

As mentioned this is only a prototype. I have hacked together the first two prototypes to make it. “O” and it’s missing the side rails for flashlights and whatnot. Also the cocking handle works well. It is all hidden internally and springs back into place when charged. This is much more complex then the pictures show. A lot is going on to make this function. Once I’m done testing this model I’ll make another one which is more refined and coated. Videos will also be posted.

Looks good from the side Enfield. I would like to see a vid of it in action like the one Eastford posted.

Not to slag your work...but if I were to nit pick I would like to see a stock that is more friendly to the face when you put a cheek on it. If I were looking for a shorty carbine I would probably stick with a chopped AR or maybe go with a Beretta for that reason.

And irregardless of that - it is a magnificent prototype. Please keep us posted.

How about making the stock foldable and/or telescoping, rails galore up front, black annodize treated metal. And I'll take one.

Seems like an awful lot of trouble when you can buy one of these:

or one of these:

It would be really cool if you could skeletonize the device by routing out or something. Great work though - I wish I could build something like that! Builid one like the Magpul, add a little combination locking mechanism and integrated mechanical trigger lock and you'd be good to go. LOL!
