Canadian Rangers Enfields may be sold for surplus or back to rangers.

This is a great thread, and I wish it would come true, but as someone pointed out earlier, there would need to be repeals of existing laws.
They (the rifles) can stay in the system, or they can get destroyed, or they can be transferred to another gov agency.
Anything else isn't just speculation, its simply wrong.
The article says that the military "would like to", not is able to, or going to.

It is a fight worth fighting, because if the HPs are ever fully replaced we will see relics that not only have historical significance (have been in a number of, including Canada's longest running conflict), they also have significant financial significance to the tax payer.
But as of now, by law, their only way out of the system is destruction.

This is the reality of how the system operates. Our surplus small arms, other than the few destined for museums, have all been destroyed/smelted for many yrs. About 21 yrs ago I looked at a bunch of unserviceable Ranger No4s which had been backloaded for disposal. As a group they were very beat up.
