Good morning,
I’m looking for a gunsmith who specializes, or at least does extensive work on rimfires. Especially the Ruger 10/22 platform. I’m looking to have the barrel/ receiver threaded ( I have a bull barrel, so this can be done ), and a recessed target crown cut. I also need the chamber tightened up for accuracy.
I’m in western Canada, if there is someone good out here . I can ship it wherever needed, but someone closer would be nice.

I actually tried Dlask. They told me what I’m after isn’t possible (it absolutely is) , and whoever answered me was kinda rude about it.
Apparently they don’t do gunsmith work anymore .

There is no real advantage to threading the action and barrel and it is a big expense. Fit the tenon close to the action for a snug fit and when everything is right... Loctite it in place. I have done that with 77-22's with excellent accuracy results. The chamber can be cut with a "Benz" reamer (made for semi-auto)

Yah, I think DLASK is focusing on pre-made parts now. They also have their own TUF-22 platform.

Tell me about the "rude" guy on the phone. Have dealt with him a few times and his phone communication skills needs some improvement. :(
 
Well, it looks like threading the receiver and barrel is out. I think I’m going to go the chemical bonding route.
Can anyone point me towards a gunsmith who does good work on rimfires?
I still want to do a recessed crown , custom chambering, and cutting an extractor groove?
Possibly have 2 barrels to do, as I’m building an SR 22 up as well.

Years ago I purchased a custom barrel to replace the stock barrel on my 10/22T. The new barrel did not fit as tightly as I would have liked. I solved the problem by using automotive LocTite Stud & Bearing retainer (the red stuff). This rifle has been one of my most consistently accurate 10/22s.

Some say that the red LocTite is too strong for this application. I have removed barrels secured with this product by means of a heat gun applied to the front of the receiver while the barrel is held firmly in a well padded vice. Then wearing welding gloves twisting & pulling on the receiver to remove it from the barrel.

220, may I ask what issues you had with your Dlask rifle?

Just get a v-block w an anti-droop screw and a little blue locktite. I run that on both my 10/22 (1 speed steel flask and one pre ruger) and have amazing results w the right ammo. Ammo selection is more important as well as a good trigger. My pre set up hits the 24" gong @525m at kamloops no prob
