Wonder how many that wants a 4.2" or even shorter has ever shot a 500S&W.
Those who enjoy shooting 4.2" or less must have strong hands/arms.

Great for a conversational piece and emergency or sh!t & Giggles but not something you want to shot on a regular basis.

Ive owned the 460 smith so i know what im getting into. It would be a pure wow factor and fun gun, to have a 4.2 inch 500.

Everyone on here that wants a 4.2 inch 500 is insane!

Don't get me wrong, I love it, but you're NUTS! :)

PS - I'm a glutton for punishment so I'd had to try it at least once.

You must hang around with hard to WOW folks cause I've yet to meet anyone that was NOT WOW by my 7.5" performance center 500, esp. with the single action hair trigger releasing a huge fireball and massive kick.

Sure that would be a wow as well, but 4.2 inch is just cooler to me. I love short barrel revolvers, id have a tonne if If I had prohib status.

I'd be in for a 4.2 460 or 500. PC edition would be super cool! Stealthed out like the Stealth Hunter!!!!!

Awesome! As I learned from petitioning for a 4.2 629 PD though, Smith and Wesson will only even consider special runs on 100 or more pre-orders.

Best bet would be to Have a well-known, experiment-friendly revolver shop do a custom for you. Gonna be $$$$ though.

I've thought of having one done before out of my 460, and was quoted $1200+ US funds for the smith work.

Let's see some pics of your short barrel revolvers, or any revolver.

Lol if you dont want a short bbl revolver fine leave the thread. Dont go being a troll and try to derail it. Move on. I dont have prohib status so i dont have lots of short barreled revolvers. I dont need to own any to want one lol. You want to see everybody elses collection in the thread that showed interest too?

OK, newbie, just confirming if you were actually speaking from experience. Guess not. As for trolling we all know who has actual experience and ownership of firearms.

I have the 8 3/8" barrelled 500 with two different compensators, and excellent X-500 Hogue grips. My top home-brew load is 41.5 grains of 4227 with a 350 grain Berry's plated bullet dropped on top and all sparked with a large rifle magnum primer. Recoil is 'brisk'. And I like the daylight visible fire ball. This revolver is 75 ounces. (The same gun with Hornady factory loaded 500 grain XTP's is...ugly.)
I think that a 4.2" barrelled 500 in comparison to the 8 3/8" would be like the difference between my S&W 69 (37.4 oz) and S&W 29 (47.7) when firing maximum loads with 300 grain XTP's... controllable, but with more barrel whip / upward recoil. The 4" 500 is 55.6 oz vs 75 oz for the 8 3/8".

A 4.2" 500 would be quite controllable with 350 grain jacketed bullets up to 400 grain gas checked hard cast. I would probably avoid the 700 grain 'Tyrannosaur' loads, however and those nasty Hornady factory 500 XTP rounds :)

I have lobbied S&W a number of times for a 4.2" 500...I just need 98 other committed buyer's out there!

Why cause im new to the forum, I must be new to handguns? Are you really that full of yourself? Just cause everybody didn't bow down to you in this thread and agree with you, we all must be wrong eh lmao. Your acting like a child. I heard there were folks like you on here, was hoping it would be a rarity just the same, but yet here you are.

Well there are a few more in this thread to join ya. If the one loudmouth would move on we may get a ball rolling here.

Done 42 grain H110 and Lil'Gun with 350gn Berry on my 7.5", both shoot soft compare to HDY factory 350 XTP. Like the Lil'Gun better, seems smoother kick than H110. Gonna load up my 500XTP. Never bother buying the 700gn, I like my wrist and to actually know where the bullets are going.

Haven't been able to duplicate the HDY factory XTP. Just kick harder than my book max XTP loads with LG and H110 with Match Fed Magnum primer.

My 7.5" 629PC recoils softer than my 8 3/8" -3.

As to getting 98 more COMMITTED ask any dealer they'll tell you 98% of folks are just talkers. Can't even get buddydog to show one pic proving even owns a revolver.

Strongly suggest you go back to facebook. Here in CGN folks will question your BS.

Just realize you are the OP. My apologies for wasting everyone's time bumping your thread with helpful info. I'm OUT of here.

I don't have to prove anything to you, and im not gonna waste my time trying. Your a child, and hopefully if I ignore you, you will go away. Only talker in this thread that isn't helping is you.

As far as committing, ill send North Sylvia a EMT tonight if they wanted to get this ball rolling.

Bye Bye. I normally don't judge, but YOU did pick the fight here. I cant understand why either? Bored today? Buddythedog wasnt being obnoxious or anything, just saying how he'd like a 4.2 CDN variant of the 500. Nothing wrong with that. TYhey already make shorter versions, must be someone shooting them. Obviously not you.

I've fired the SR Alaskan in 454 2" when I worked in North Dakota, a handful? Yup. Fun? Yessir.

405gr in my 460V? Yup. A handful? Yessir./ Fun? Yessir.

I can see a market for the 4.2" 500 or 460. I am just this week deciding if I want to import a SR 454 Toklat or not.

I thought about getting one of those but they are kinda fugly.

I'd take a 4.2" 460 and add it as my second gun for my wilderness ATC. I'd carry my 10mm most of the time but when I'm sure to be running into gbears I'd take the 460. I'm pretty sure my 10mm is up to the challenge of a grizz. I'm pretty dang accurate with 200gr hardcast loads
