Canadian source for MacMillan rifle stock

I would like to buy a MacMillan stock for my BRNO 602.

Does anyone know of a Canadian source for these stocks or can I just order one from the US?

Also, do I need my gunsmith to install this or is this something that I can do myself with basic tools?
 
I bought mine from the US but I remember seeing on the board that there's a couple dealers that can get hem. Some recommend glass bedding them but I just dropped mine in last fall before moose season and it shoots moa. Just put the bolts in and you're ready to go. Of course, if done properly, glass bedding could only make it better.
 
Can I put the cross bolts in myself?

How hard is it to bed if you've never done it before? Is it really necessary to bed this rifle/stock?

If it'll shoot MOA at 100 yards off the bench I'll be satisfied.
 
McMillan calls it a drop in fit but most people like to bed it anyway for that precise fit. But like I said, I just dropped mine in and it shoots great. Bedding is not hard but a little stresfull, expecialy with a $500 stock! I did a couple practice job on take off stocks before I did my first one. Personally I've never heard of anyone putting crossbolt in a McMillan, maybe if you were shooting something over .375HH.
 
I'd recommend having someone who knows what he's doing take care of stocking your rifle. Considering what you'll spend on a McMillan stock, why take the chance of bollocksing it up?

I know ATRS uses McMillan stocks. I'm sure he would be able to stock your 602 for you.

cross bolts in a synthetic are easy, you drill a hole and use Devcon plastic steel to glue in a piece of 1/4" redi-rod, kind of like re-bar. A shot of paint and you're done.

I would bed it, or have it bedded. It will probably shoot MOA unbedded, but if you want consistency day to day and repeatability if you have to pull the barreled action from the stock, you should invest in a good bedding job.

Some of Brockman's ideas are pretty neat, I like the push down ghost ring, and they were putting notches for strippers in some of their commercial actions. 5 rounds of .375 in a stripper has merit!

I suggest contacting Aubrey White, of North American Shooting Systems at Osoyoos, B.C.; he is a former R.C.M.P. officer and is/was the Canadian dealer for McMillan. I spoke with #### Davis of Mc some time ago and he advised me that Aubrey could bring a stock into Canada for me.
