Maybe I'm missing something so could some of you explain the big attraction? Is it just because there's something new on the market? Because it takes AK47 mags? Comes in NR version or is it the wood furniture? What? I mean, I like it but where's the advantage over say the CZ858? Same 7.62 x 39 for $100's less. If it's just because it's new/different/cool then I understand completely, just want to be sure I'm not missing something!

Where did this come from? Grade A tinfoil or is there something factual to support it?

Curious as its the first I've heard of it.

There is a whole thread about it. I am pissed about it, but as of yet there is no real proof. Just a bunch of talk from a few dealer members.

Good question. My answer is specific for me, in no way do I mean to offend anyone who loves theyre cz, they are pretty cool to be honest. However for me, I the iconic AK-47 has been like a unicorn, I love russian tag for its simplicity, durability and reliability. That is hard to find in modern day firearms. So if I can get something that even hinges on the same concept I jump at it. This may be the closest I can get to owning another peice of history.

Finally, something that can use all those AK mags we have laying around.

Personally though, I'll wait for a .223 version...

so i have seen a few threads on this now, is there any evidence on its existence or just members talking? are dealers talking about it? one dealer or multiple?

Seems to be a boatload of hype over the 5.45 rounnd...which I dont see a ton of hangin around. Is there a massive advantage to it? According to the inventor of the AK-47 it was the russians panic answer to 5.56? He even says in a video he'd prefer to stay wit 7.62? Sorry if this is massive newb question.

Signed up to be on the waiting list at 10am today, before I even knew what it was! Thank god it it was the Tantal, and not the Type 81 like people were speculating.

My vz58's going to be awfully jealous.

I don't understand the hype over this round as well...... I would rather use the 7.62x39, its heavier but packs a heavier punch!

Ya man I definitely agree. Although I have never been a fan of 5.56 and im in the military to boot. I just fell in love with 7.62 and so its a strong suit fer me

Surplus 5.45 is cheaper and more available on the international market than surplus 7.62. The surplus 7.62 will dry up as it's not a front line issue round any more, 5.45 is still in massive production, with literally billions of rounds in storage, getting older by the day. People never thought surplus 303 would dry up, but guess what.....

The 5.45 is flatter shooting, more accurate and has lower recoil. Additionally, the Soviets put a bubble in the tip of their 7n6 rounds causing them to tumble much more reliably than standard 5.56 FMJ projectiles, basically it's an FMJ that performs more like a soft point.

And it doesn't hurt that it's cheap as all get out, in the US you can get 1080 round crates of the stuff for around $2-250.
