This was all due to a leak... I believe Urban Tac had full intention of posting images and most likely was forbid to do so. How come they were able to take orders for an imaginary rifle? (spare me the SCAR ordeal)

It was supposed to be a surprise apparently. But we will see in time. I myself got over excited.

Does anyone know how the CZ 858 was introduced. Did it just show up unannounced? I do not know as I was in tune with the gun community at that time.

I'm not sure a few hundred rifles will create enough demand in our market. I do genuinely hope you eventually get the chance to own a 5.45 rifle; I don't want to restrict anyone's choices or options, but 7.62x39 is the logical first choice for our situation.
 
I saw that but it seems urban tactical is now trying to keep things under their hat so the mobs dont grab pitch forks when questions go unanswered. They did say that everything is gonna be on the table this week coming.
Lets just wait and see when they post the pics and specs on them
 
two things we know :

- Urban Tactical's staff/owner saw the rifle at the distributor's and posted the picture of the tantal subsequently.
- Trigger Wholesale emphasizes the gun will not be an AK or variant. This is not really surprising, since no importer would ever dare calling it that in the first place, for obvious reasons.

Personally, I think what we are hearing now is simple damage control due to a leak of information that came weeks before the official announcement was scheduled. It seems some of the moving parts are not in place just yet, and it therefore is reasonnable to withhold anything that sounds like a final, formal statement about design, availability and price for now.

Given these facts, I'm still fairly confident the rifle will be up to par with people's expectations.
Hopefully the upcoming weeks will prove this right.

Well boys lets wait for next week to pass and then let the $hit fest begin. Urban tactical made a mistake leaking the info on this rifle and im sure they got reamed out good by trigger. They were really good about answering our questions up until now lets just give them a chance

^^^^^ DITTO, I think its gonna look red rifle like and possibly AK in appearance but thats probably it.
 
Not really sure why people are thinking the 858's are going to be all over the EE for dirt cheap, once the Can. Sporting Rifle is available. I hope to have at least a couple of the new rifles but there is no way I'm selling my 858. Totally different platform, there is no reason not to own both.

Valmets ARE AKs. Not somewhat like AKs.

You guys who think this rifle will look or be anything remotely like an AK need to review how the RCMP determines "variant".
 
The fact that the distributer went and looked a sample then immediatley released a picture of a polish tantal means its going to look one hell of a lot like an ak they have a reputation to keep i doubt they would get our hopes up this high and then offer us a bastardized sks with ak furniture
