Canadian Sporting Rifle

So question, I'm a newbie here but I'm kinda confused. What makes this gun "Not an AK"? They said a number of parts can't be swapped out with AK Parts... but looking the tantal up on Wiki says the opposite. That the Wz.88 can take the bolt carrier group, and other parts of AKs.

There is no official information yet. However, some things are known or very, very likely. To start, the rifle is NOT a Tantal, it is the Canadian Sporting Rifle.

The Tantal is a Variant of the Kalashnikov, being based on the AK, specifically made to be compatible in many of its parts, plus it looks like an AK and was designed and built in Eastern Europe. However, it is not a named Variant in the Prohibited Weapons Order No. 13 (SOR/98-462 S.64); it is just a general AK Variant according to Law. It is Prohibited.

The CSR is apparently built/assembled in Canada/the U.S.A. from parts manufactured in those nations. It is made by a company that makes Tantals to sell in the U.S.A. (where they are legal). They have designed the CSR to be a variant of their Tantal-style rifle, however it is not compatible with their Tantal, or the AK generally (except in magazine and furniture, which do not define the operating fire-arm). It has a new semi-auto only receiver, which is the defined fire-arm, and it is not compatible with the AK bolt or fun switch. It has apparently already been deemed non-Prohibited by the RCMP's weapons laboratory.

It is thus a variant of a non-named Variant, which removes it from being a Variant of the original AK. It is also not compatible with the Variant or original AK in its operating parts.

Just like I post on the other post

If you go to read more history about this polish gun
you will know why it's not an AK

Back to late 70s Russian was offered license to build AK74s
but polish don't want to pay high license fees so they decide to build their own
without paying the fee. So they try to avoid the same internal design

in the end on 1991 USSR falled apart so they join NATO right before this gun went full production

Polish spent more than 10 years to develop it but dropped it in the end
Sad for it. But just helped us to avoid RCMP classify it as an AK accidentally

I can't believe I actually now care that a bunch of Polish communists didn't want to be ripped off by a bunch of Russian communists...

quaddafi, saddam , countless south american criminals, it never ends well for the gold plated crowd Deckard. dusty grave or perp walk don't do it...

haha just kidding bling it out...

I'm curious why people keep assuming its based off the tantal? Trigger wholesale said it was not, it was a new rifle. The only evidence was urban tacticals cheesy attempt to be the first dealer selling these, they posted a picture of a different gun, I'm assuming because they made promises they either couldn't keep, weren't allowed to make in the first place, or they are just excited as us and running on speculation themselves. The only words that aren't just what some random guy thinks.

What's the big deal? There are plenty of cool rifles out why so horny over this one? The cz 858 and the vz 58 shoot the same ammo but more accurately. This new rifle I guarantee will not get as much air time as the SKS on this board. I started out wanting an SKS only now I am loaded right up on military rifles. I will order one of these too, kinks nice that they all take the same ammo. If the Chinese attack we are armed to the nutz. Sad that canadian rednecks out gun the canadian army.

Haven't seen any rednecks with Leopard tanks.

Out gun, but definitely not out skill. No amount of CQB classes will help you.
