Canadian suppliers list :.223 rem and 5.56mm ammo updated

Just noticed this sticky...we have lots of .223 ammon in stock in 55 and 62 grn. (winchester and Fed.) Also have limited supplies of Hornady TAP in various configurations including some real 5.56. Phil.

I got a brick of 223 from Reliable when Lever had their sale on and I got mine for the same price there. Sometimes you just have to ask nice.

Ok, old thread but it sounds like people are having problems getting .223Rem. Was/Is there a shortage? I haven't had trouble getting any factory stuff. LeBaron, Dante, Baron Sports, CTdM, even Crappy Tire has some. Prices are about the same and similar to what's been posted here.

The only thing I ever had trouble getting is Varget and Hornady bulk FMJ's but not fully assembled ammo. Varget is always out of stock everywhere here and the bullets have been B/Oed from Hornady for the longest time. Had to get some bulk SP's last time.

This maybe out of the box, but what if a group of
shooters put in a bulk order.
(Lets call it a CGNs order)
Say 50 or 100 000 rounds.
(just a number)(maybe more, maybe less?)
Would any of the supplier give a better rate?
If there are any suppliers reading this,
what would your number be?

There is very much a shortage of 223/5.56 ammo. The increased training and deployment ammo required for the wars(A-stan and Iraq) are putting some significant strain on the supply. Couple that with the increased cost of raw materials and now you know why there's both a shortage and a price hike.

Factory ammo often isn't difficult to source. It is difficult to source in large quantities.

freakin +1! The ONLY time I bought ammo for the AR was at Marstar and now they're out 'till ?? They had the best prices... my supply is stretching thin... it wouldn't be a good time for a zombie outbreak.:runaway:

Why is ammo so hard to get these days? It sounds like there is room for another manufacturer. A canadian supply of .308, .223 and 7.62X39 would be lovely. Plus I would love to buy something with a maple leaf stamped in it.

223 and 308 Ammo is so rare and expencive because we and the states are at war. Also the price of all the metels involved have gone WAYYYYY up.

That explains expensive, but not rare. Aren't there DOD armouries that only turn on the ammo taps in time of war and remain offline during peace time letting the commercial manufacturers make up for demmand? From the looks of it, as soon as I get my hands on my new .223 rifle, I'm going to have to start stockpiling myself.
