Hey guys. I've never purchased ammo at CT so I don't know personally, but I thought I'd throw the question out to see if anyone has had this problem.
I was talking to a friend out east recently who told me a story about his friend's deer hunting trip last year. He fired at the deer (kill shot), it jumped and took off. He found it again, shot and the same thing. He followed a blood trail and finally found it again and used his buddy's gun to drop it. After checking it out, the previous shots were good but barely went through the skin. After telling the story to someone, that guy immediately asked if he bought his ammo at CT. He did, but this guy didn't know that. After he said he did, the guy told him that CT buys bulk from producers and to cut costs, they have them skimp a little at the factory. I was told the same about their spark plugs a while back when I had my Ski Doo repaired, but this is the first I heard of anything like this with ammo. Anyone else heard this or is it just boys BS'ing?

I actually heard Canadian Tire buys factory match ammo and then pays elves outside of Gimli to hand Un-load each bullet and skim off 4% of the powder and then uses all the cumulative skimming for the Canada Day fireworks in Regina, right under the nose of the RCMP depot. You can see their little elven fingerprints on the larger casings. True story since I found it on the interwebz.

Definitely bs, I dropped my first buck last hunting season with the cheapest 30-30 rounds they had, one shot behind the leg.

I once had a shopkeeper in a gun shop tell me that his ammo was better quality and thus the reason for the higher price over the same ammo sold in WalMart, that was specially made to a lower standard.

I've heard a LOT of excuses for wounding or injuring deer... But that takes the cake. Doesn't anyone have the balls to admit they missed the vitals? Your friend's friend needs to grow a pair. That's absurd.

An ammunition company in good standing would probably never go for making inferior ammo for CT or Wal mart, after all it's still their name on the box, not CT brand ammo. The story is as others have said bs for sure.

As long as the manufacturer's name is on that box, they aren't going to deliberately produce a box of crap. It is THEIR reputation at stake. Now if it was a box with the Canadian Tire logo and nothing on it implicating the manufacturer? MAYBE. Now I can't get the image of Mastercraft Match Grade Ammo made by Cheng Chow Co. in China, out of my head.

Why does Winchester continue to put crap in their boxes of ammo then?

As long as people buy from Walmart and CT, the prices will be higher at the small gun shops.

When there are no more local gun shops and the big chain stores deem it politically incorrect to sell ammunition, you will lose your supply.

Silly idea, isn't it?

Wait a minute...

Thats what happened twice now since bill C68

I live in a community that supports our local gun shops. We don't care what these big businesses do.

We choose to spent the extra 50 cents on a box of ammo , keep our local gun shops, and deal with qualified staff.

The best price in my town is never at Walmart or CT.

My local store fights gun control legislation. Your CT makes donations to the Liberal Party of Canada.

When your town has no ammunition, guns, or vendors, remember that you saved 50 cents...

and shipping costs suck....

Your choices killed the local store. You suck.

Boom. :agree:

An NGK spark plug from CT is the same as one from Napa
A Motor Master spark plug from CT is not the same as an NGK spark plug from CT or Napa

I disagree. The NGk plugs from ct are pre dropped for that short to ground that makes troubleshooting so fun... Nothing to do with NGk though!
