Canadian Tire Clearance

The Ottawa store at Blair and Montreal had three 50% off tickets posted in the ammo locker.
The 50% off inventory in the locker was:
2 boxes of 170 grain - 32 Winchester
2 boxes of 16 gauge 00 Buck
0 boxes of 12 gauge 000 Buck

The clerk said "What you see is all we have. They are clearance and are no longer going to be stocked".

I was gonna go and clean 'em up tomorrow :(

kenora's crappy tire is actually one of only 3 or 4 crappy tire stores in canada that sell firearms.

T-Bay has one of them too, although the selection is extremely limited. I would also suspect that the Kenora store would have a decent ammo selection..

I cleaned out the nearest CT of Fed 12 gauge 000 buck (only 3 boxes). I checked the other two CT stores in town, and the one nearest my office and they had no 000 buckshot in the cabinet, so no sales.

The other two ammunition types that I saw on sale was 16 gauge buck and 16 gauge slug.

The CT here had a bunch of 16 gauge on sale and some bird shot for 12 gauge. The bird shot wasn't that much cheaper than a bulk pack so I didn't even bother.

Prices are pretty high at my Canadian tire.. 10 gauge and 16 gauge ammo is red tagged though.. i think it was .. 16.00$ for 25 10 gauge.. ( sorry dont remember brand name ) believe 2 3/4 shells in duck loads..

Hey guys,

I was at Canadian Tire today and picked up some 12 ga 2 3/4 000 Buckshot that was on clearance. They said they weren't getting it anymore or that Federal was ceasing to manufacture it (the kid didn't really know). I went to another location in town but they didn't have any.

It's Federal Power-Shok 12Ga 2 3/4 000 Buckshot. It was less than $4 bucks a box, so it might be something for you shotgunners to look into. Bought the last they had, which sucked 'cause it was only 6 boxes....

WooHoo!:D I stopped by the Belleville store, and they had 12 boxes left, for $3.93/box! I bought 'em all; what a great deal!

I woner why they not making 'em anymore; is it just that particular company? I didn't notice any 000 buck on the shelves at all, other than the Federal I picked up at the clearance price.

Formula 1 synthetic 5w-30 is on for 15.99@4.4ltr jug. Regular price 31.99 here. I bought two cases and saved $128.00 of the regular price. I can now buy $128.00 worth of any kind of ammo I want at any store I want, even a store that sells guns.

That's it for today's lesson in economics.:)

This kinda raises a question: what do you guys use 000 buck for? Some local guys have told me they use it for hunting deer and turkey(?), some for skeet and clays (HUH?), and some gave me answers I won't put up here.

I like to set up 10 pineapples in a row about 20 yards away and just blast them. :D

Here's an example of 000 buck meeting a pineapple....

Honestly I don't use them for much. Usually it's only when a newbie comes to the range with me and wants to try something heavier in a shotgun. Next step up would be slugs if they're up for it.

Some places mandate buckshot for deer, but I use slugs. Turkey you're using #4, #5, or #6 shot in Ontario. You don't shoot clays or skeet with 000 buckshot. Although if you ever want to try let me know and I'll bring a video camera (and wear my hardhat).

Barring some sort of 'Mad Max-zombie-ninja-pirate' SHTF scenario the 3 boxes of 000 I bought will probably last me many years.
