Hi all..... not sure if this is the proper area to post an inquiry about gun safes but Canadian Tire had a sale on a 24 gun Stack-on Elite safe a week ago and I got a rain check for one because they only got one in and it sold the first day of sale. They called me a couple days ago to say they have one in for me so I went to take a look. Unfortunately it was boxed up so I couldn't really check it out and they didn't have a display model. So I my question is does anyone have this particular safe and if so can you tell me the pros and cons. I currently have 9 Long guns, some scoped and some un-scoped but with the possibility of aquiring more I need to know if this is a good deal as far as space and quality go. The regular price is $999.99 plus tax and the sale price is $599.99.Any imput would be appreciated. Thanks.

buy from a local distributor- a locksmith who can fix it if something goes wrong.

Otherwise, make sure you learn how it works and take pictures of the inside before you close it up. No promising that a local tech can access/repair it.

I purchased one last weekend. The price is certainly right. First of all, it weighs just under 500 lbs so make sure you've got help getting it home, or wherever it's going.

The digital keypad is nice and seems to work well. The battery is accessible from the front, as is the backup key in case your battery dies. It has 4 holes in the back and 4 in the floor so you can install lighting and humidity control (which I did) and so you can lag bolt it to the floor.

The fit and finish is good and the door locks up tight. For $600, it's a great value, IMO.

A word of caution, 24 guns is the very most that will fit in this safe. If you have firearms with scopes, you will use up a lot more space real fast.

I also bought one for that price and received a call today that it's in. Looking forward to having a larger safe and one that's fireproof. Hope it's as good a buy as it appears and holds my 13 guns comfortably with enough room for 18.

Thanks for the replies.Fathers day is coming up and the grown children want to know what to get me. I always tell them not to worry about it and it pisses them off when when I don't give them ideas. Special occasions just don't mean that much to me so maybe this time round I'll tell them cash toward it will make their job easier. C.T. extended the rain check so I have some time still to think about it. Any web sites where I could see more pictures of the inside. Stack-on is pretty vague.

P.S.... realized I should have posted in the General Discussion area AFTER I posted in this section so sorry about that.

I have that safe and it was great. Until the keypad died. Now I have to use the key to open it. Not so great anymore.

A couple of the fine wires that connect the keypad to the inner circuits ended up somehow severing and the keypad stopped working. They are too find for the average person to try and solder back together.

Picked up my safe today. It looks great. I received a slightly different model than the one on CDN Tire website. The one I got was a 12/12 setup and not the 16/8 setup. I have 14 guns and it won't fit too many more so definitely not going to fit 24 guns. Might be able to get another 3-4 guns jammed in and then it will be full.
