Canadian Tire selling reloading supplies

"...reloading items..." Surprised me when I was in the Dundas St store, just before deer season. Don't ask the clerks for info. They're minimum wagers and get no training of any kind.

Mhmm I was happy to find somewhere local that had .223 dies in stock. It was a little painful trying to explain what they were, and why I didn't need to show my PAL, let alone record it. I did have to show my driver's license to prove I was over 18 though  before the sales person walked them to the checkout for me lol. O well, atleast they were in stock.

I tried to order some powder and projectiles from my local store today and they flat out and said NO. they can't order cause its a direct ship from supplier and it's out of season... don't advertise something that ain't available.

During a decades long dearth of service and support from "Big Box" stores for hunters and shooters in our area, we have seen the birth and expansion of a number of small businesses (Gun Shops) seeking to fill the niche. Now, after these entrepreneurs have struggled and succeeded, the "Big Boxes" have decided to show us some love. "Fvck Em" ! I'll not play their politically sensitive game of marketing coitus interruptus at the expense of those who took care of business in their absence.

Same in this area, I believe they just don't want to be bothered..

i'll see what happens, I emailed customer service to find out if I can order the product from CT. i'll keep everybody posted. I think it's BS that you can't even order the stuff, if they have it on website, it should be available period. I thinking about burning up my CT money on that.

Woodstock not only has a pretty good (and growing ) selection of firearms, reloading and ammo THEY WILL PRICE MATCH any advertised (Ontario) walk in store

I tried to have them bring in a few pounds of H110 and they told me it's a seasonal item and unavailable until next year.
That's when I stopped going to CT.
If they can't get you stuff in their catalog, they're not worth doing business with.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Here here!

It's kind of a catch 22. For one thing, the gun stores are just not thought of by the non gun crowd. The non gun/non sportsman crowd does not go into most stores with guns. By having walmart, canadian tire, sears et al big box stores having large sections devoted to guns, it becomes more normal to people to see guns outside the movies. It might help destigmatise guns to many of them.
I also really do understand that there was a small industry that was created by the gun industry where and when the big box stores left gun owners high and dry. They supported us when everyone else wanted to plug their ears and go 'lalalalalalalalalalalala, can't hear you'.
But I think there's room for both. I also understand that it's a catch 22 for many people. Rather than arguing about it, support both, and get more friends, neighbours, etc., into shooting. Then there's room for both. The more people are exposed to it, the more normal it will be. We might be able to get to the point where we could carry a rifle for target shooting, or hunting on public transit without people or cops batting an eye and have the rifle rack in the back window of the pickup truck again...
Just a thought. And Wendy's worst nightmare... tehehehehe
