Their BBQ paint that folks talk about is the first attempts at Parkerizing most modern military rifles come with this instead of blueing as less reflective and quicker/cheaper to apply, same as a lot of hunting rifles and shotguns. I have seen some really nice SKS Parkerizing and a few not so nice. One in particular had a semi glossy finish that was rough or bumpy,, just another attempt at different finishes. I guess as these were being refurbed, they were a great place to try Parkerizing out! I find the finish on most to be very tough!No doubt it varies from store to store ; but the SKS's at the local CT here seem to be mostly BBQ paint specials now......the quality of their SKS's has really dropped in the past year and a half .
