Ok, I might be a bit behind the times here on this rifle but hear me out.
I saw the Ruger M77 Gunsite Scout rifle on Guns and Ammo TV recently and I thought it was pretty cool and I was considering buying one, our watered down Canadian version without the flash hider and longer barrel is so lame and boring in comparison that it doesn't interest me at all.
I read the thread in one of the dealers section and people are speculating that the reason that there is no flash hider is that the US government won't allow anything with a flash hider to be exported; it sure seems that there at loads of US made AR15's and other “black rifles” for sale in Canada with Flash hiders.
Also, why is the barrel longer, there are no stupid laws or rules in either country that will prevent the sale or export of a 16.5" long barreled fixed stock bolt action rifle.
There have been posts that the Gunsite crest is not on the stock, well why would it be; the rifle is an abortion of their original rifle in which they had a lot of input towards it’s final design.
In my opinion, now it’s just another short barreled 308; you might as well buy a Stevens 200 for that matter and use the $500 difference in price to buy ammo.
Rant over!
