Just got a mailout (with swag) from the Canadian Wildlife Federation. They want a donation of course and while I am thinking of donating I am also wondering what their position is on hunting.

I looked up their info on Google and while they don't actively support hunting, they don't really demonize it either (their stance is rather ambiguous).

I obviously won't give to orgs that oppose activities that I am involved in and so I was wondering if anyone knows just where they stand on the subject?

They wouldn't be the first org that is deliberately vague on positions so as not to turn away donations (like Ducks Unlimited)

Before donating to a unknown charity I always check to see what percent of donations go to the cause using sites like https://www.charityintelligence.ca/charity-details/85-canadian-wildlife-federation the CWF is ok with 68% goes to the cause.

Per google the CWF is a separate NGO that was loosely affiliated with some Provincial wildlife federations. Which focuses on lobbying for habitat and environmental protections. If you write them asking for their position they would probably tell you.

That said unlike the CWF all 12 Provincial Wildlife Federations are actively supporting hunting/fishing/sports shooting they are all directly affiliated to each other via The National Fishing and Hunting Collaborative (NFHC) and were actively lobbying for gun rights on IG and FB during the last election https://bcwf.bc.ca/2025-federal-election/

I would recommend joining and donating to your local WF first, then if you have spare money to give, the CWF would be ok.

PS, another option to donate to help gun owners is donating to the Canadian University Shooting Federation (CUSF), Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights (CCFR), National Firearms Association (NFA)

PPS, if after donating to all five of the aforementioned charities, you still have $$$ to spread the wealth, hit me up
;)

donate to your provincial wildlife conservation groups.
The big NGO types.... like ducks unlimitted just pretend to support hunting.... which really they officially don't. I mention Ducks Unlimitted because it was discovered by thier own admission that they are an environment and wetland conservation organization and not a pro hunting organization.
They just want your money while they pretend to have your back.
