OK....We all heard this Cougar with extension tube can hold more than 5 rounds. Now we can say that is not true.

Today my buddy get his Cougar 1100. First thing we did was trying to put as many rounds as possible into it.

Then we found that Cougar has the same tube cap design as Grizz, which won't take more rounds without modification....and it jams solid if you push more rounds in.

We have to unscrew the mag cap to free the poor orange thing....

In the end we just put the limit rod in, now Cougar has a nice capacity of 5+1.

The finish of Cougar 1100 is better than my old Grizz. Somehow the surface is much smoother. They improved the sand blast process?

So you put the extention on, took out the limiting rod, and tried to add more than 5 rounds? Any problems with the extention staying tight after firing off a few rounds? Pics?

Didn't have chance to fire it yet.

Don't have to fire it anyhow, 6th round will jam it for sure. Just leave the limiting rod in.

Well, I believe the law is... it cannot "hold" more than 5 (3" shells) in the mag-tube. So, even if it renders the gun into a POS, if it can fit 6, 3" shells... it's still a big no-no.

On a comparable note:

I had a similar problem with the Mossberg930. I bought an extension that would allow for a legal 5, 3"shells in the mag-tube. The drawback was that it too turned the shotgun into a jamming POS. I removed the extension and was content with a reliable 4shells only gun. Money wasted.
