Ok I'm sure in the history of CGN that this link has come up at least once, but it's damn funny and worthy of being posted: http://www.buckstix.com/howitzer.htm

Anybody know the legality of using it in Ontario or other provinces? As far as I know it's not subject to the Firearms Act, but what about game regulations?

The fact that the dudes behind this idea made it all the way to adulthood without being neutered or lobotomized is the true indicator of whats wrong with America today.

This guy must have missed out on getting a brain when they were being passed out. Another fine example of how to paint hunters as morons.
I wonder how he explains the canon behind his truck when he finds the Wardens checkstop on the way home.

To have a Howitzer in the front yard to touch off once in awhile would be cool. But not for "Hunting".
I imagine this would fall in the same category as the Punt Guns.

I think it is funny as hell. but really what is so bad about it it is just a HUGE shot gun and in the right conditions i can see nothing wronge with it. I would never do it but hey what ever floats there boat.
truly what is unethincal about it? that deer would have been dead faster then any rifle! 6 hits with 69 cal ball holly hell that would do damage.

Ye gods.... Once upon a time there was some silly notion of "sportsmanship." As a hunting idea, it is somewhere between pathetic and repulsive. As fun toy, whooppee! As a hunting proposition, absolutely no way, legal or otherwise. Bunch of silly buggers.

 Stuart

When was this magic era of "sportsmanship"? I think it might have appeared in a field and stream reprint in 1978?

Lighten up guys, there is nothing inhumane with getting hit with 6 12 gauge slugs simultaneoulsy! How is it worse then using other primitive weapons, you can't tell me that a 100 yd black powder shot with a single shot is more humane then that.

Don't we all blast away at ducks, geese, grouse and rabbits with a very similar device! How is a deer getting it from a mulit projectile firearm any different then a Goose?

Animals are animals they do not know about "sporting", we owe them the respect of keeping pain to a minimum but beyond that they don't know the difference between death by 18 wheeler, 300WSM, broad head, sabot or cougar. Only the hunted have a chance of dying quick in the animal kingdom.

When it is my time to go I sure hope it is as easy as ignorantly stepping in front of a well aimed patterned cannon.

We should be careful about calling into question the sanity of a man based on his choice of firearms interest. Guess you are falling into the same trap that anti gunners do when thinking of all the guys who lives in suburbia with tricked out black guns and an extra dozen handguns.

I give buddy a big thumbs up for saftey, humour and honesty.

all I could do was chuckle at that. lol. but seriously come on, the guy shot a deer with a cannon :D thats so cool. Think about how difficult that would be, getting the deer close enough facing the right direction and the stand in one particular spot in the field, Thats impresive actually.

and i agree lighten up guys. so you dont like it, so dont worry about it, he's not hurtin anyone so let the guy do what he wants. I don't like synthetic stocks on guns but I don't say anything cause if you like it then more power to you, i would hope more of you would subscribe to that same principle. just because you don't like something doesnt mean someone who does shouldnt be aloud to do it.

I don't think it's inhumane, from the bullet holes, I'm sure that deer didn't go too far. As far as sportmanship goes (or lack of), might as well hunt with landmines or poisonned food pellets!

How do you know they haven't been?

from the article:

Sounds pretty straightforward to me

My bad!

For all you "lighten up" boys, I guess my problem is "shot placement" in both senses of the phrase.

thats just plain messed up...I laughed at the idea of it (a rather stupid idea)..can you imagine doing a drive and blasting that thing off at 5 deer bookin it out of the bush?!.....but yeah safety I dont think was his #1 thought
