I'm happy to report that I received a package today from Canpar.

Everything was by the book. No problems whatsoever.

The site is being redone this year, it will be a feature on the new site when it is ready. For now, please leave a note

That's great news, I only know of one other site sponsor that uses this feature, great to see that you guys have this in the works... on a side note, the mini shells you guys brought in are fantastic!

CANPAR sucks! Can't think of a more appropriate description at this time. Their depot is run like a fun house (bad one) and I don't like the idea of their drivers discussing package contents.
Won't bore you with the details however today a CANPAR driver shows up at my door and my wife just happened to be home. (Some background, I have ordered ammo online where CANPAR was used by the shipper in the past.)

I am shipping some ATV wheels back to a supplier so she assumed that was why he showed up. Driver said he was there for a pick up and got the City correct of where the wheels were being returned too however added he was there for only one package that weighed less than 2lbs. Then he adds "maybe it's for ammo"!!! Perfect. Wife is now pissed and I am non too happy with Mr. Looselips.
Ok, some of you may find that as a non issue. I however do and I did send a nasty gram to their customer service. Seriously, who else is he talking too??
I can't see myself making any more ammo purchases on line if CANPAR is the only option for delivery as I am old and stubborn and refuse to do business with a company whom I consider has lack security measures.

Rant over.

I don't like their hours, im at work when they try to deliver, and then their pick up availability at their warehouse is even worse. And then they charge me to deliver to another address or they'll send it back to where i bought the item.

canpar wont deliver to my place and are using canada post from edmonton to whitehorse dont ask me how i learnt that and the worst customer experience i ever had to deal with ...

I had to deal with them just yesterday. I have a dog and I didn't hear her bark the two days he delivered. I then had to pick up the goods at their facility 30min away from where I live and don't get me started on their ####ty opening hours. 7-10am and 4-7pm, nothing in between, except frustration for any normal working person. I don't even work on Friday and I had to plan ahead of time to avoid traffic. I slept a whole 3 hours to get there. I was greeted by a dude who went in the back and brought only 1 box, 4lbs box when my order contained around 700 rounds and a shotgun. I told him something was wrong considering the nature of my order. Long story short, he brought the second box and gave me a comment about how it helps to have ammunition to shoot a gun. I don't care much but it lacks professionalism to have anyone knowing what your stuff contains, borderline dangerous considering it's guns and ammo. What if it was a big dildo.

Be thankfully Cardinal Couriers doesn't ship guns. They are the WORST. Can't think of any bad Purolator experiences other than I get a new driver every 5-6 months. Had the same UPS guy for over 20yrs.

For those of us who ship a lot there are money saving options. Such as the bidding services such as Zoomshipper (through CFIB) or freightcom.com. The latter is even cheaper. I had a UPS reseller (Vital logistics) set me up a year ago and can ship a light box within the gta biz-biz for like $7, gta-Windsor ~$9.They can't do anything if you are using UPS a lot already.

What I also find useful is reverse ship where I can send a waybill billed on my account to pick up a box. Like on the EE for instance:p

The only way to receive a CANPAR package is to never work or leave the house. The only way to pick your package up is to take a few hours off work. I don't know how they're still in business with the BS they pull on the customer.

I'm at the point now that I will boycott any place that uses them. I would rather pay more for a gun than have the trouble of trying to receive my package.

I have nothing, but bad experience with Canpar on three, separate occassions. I'm refusing to buy anything shipped by them. I much prefer Canada Post. Just ordered a firearm from Ontario and made it clear right away, but to my surprise the store owner forgot about it and I received a shipping notification from Canpar. Never did I call anybody so quickly....and he apologized, cancelled the order with Canpar and went with CP instead. Actually while not perfect the CP personnel in our town is working hard and at least...is trying to accommodate for their clients' needs.

Many moons ago first pistol deliver by Canpar, left at door. We live 100 yards from elementary school....yikes!!! I work shift work so now anytime they deliver here I sleep on the couch with one eye open so I can hear them speed away.
A nightmare situation happened in the town I live in because of poor courier service, two handguns dropped at wrong residence (signature???) Liberal neighbour opened it and promptly called the cops. You can imagine the problems. The guy the package was suppose to get to ended up leaving the area shortly after he was so stressed out.
Never had good service once from them other than the item made it. Thats a pretty low bar in what appears to be a work culture problem within their organization.

Isnt it illegal to open mail not addressed to you? I know I would be pissed if someone were to go through my packages if it were dropped off at the wrong address

Canpar is at the same level as the ring around my toilet bowl---at least the ring i can scrub out--these guys couldn't be worse.

i have had really good service with Canpar but I think its because they hand it off to Loomis for delivery. The Loomis driver turns out is a gun nut so when he sees Canadaammo on the label he has always made sure that he at least handles the packages with respect and of course likes to guess what is in the package (he is about 50% correct). I would like to think its individuals that either give you good or bad service and often its luck of the draw regardless which company you are dealing with. Canada Post "lost" a firearm I ordered only to eventually find it hidden behind a door for safe keeping because they thought someone might steal it - not sure if that is good or bad service but it does show some concern i guess.
