People like to buy and sell their property.

I'm not sure why anyone has a problem with that. Just because you choose to hang onto something doesn't mean someone else has to do the same and right now a handgun is a hot commodity.

Personally, I sell anything I don't use. Rifles, handguns, tools and sporting equipment. If it sits around and "collects dust" its gone.
 
I have one that I have thought about selling because I haven't fired it in years. I is a High Standard Supermatic with 2 barrels, weights and 2 mags. I don't have any idea of price point so it stays in the safe.

When this bill gets passed or whenever Justin feels like doing an OIC the handguns can not be sold or transferred or even passed to your children as an inheritance. I suspect that many gun enthusiasts have more money tied up in hand guns than they feel comfortable with losing. My best friend does not have much in the way of financial assets but he does have a number of firearms that he collected during his lifetime. It would be his desire that what he does have is liquidated at his death and the money used to support his surviving wife.
 
If this stupid law takes effect there will need to be a buy back. If you sell now, the gun will be used by someone else (perhaps a new shooter who cannot afford new) which is a bonus. If you are not in a need to sell or a hurry and want to get rid of them, then wait for the buyback The prices at a buyback are typically far better than you will get for a used sale, especially for a gun that is close to worn out. Yes the panic sales right now are unnecessary.

The point of the new law(s) is there won't be a buy back - on handguns anyway. The registration just expires when you die.
 
There will a "squeeze" phenomenon on handgun soon. Dealers and individuals stumble to exit the handgun trade, stock runs out, a bunch of new last minute RPAL buyers scramble to get in between now and October. There is no stock, dealers try to find stocks but distributors cancel their orders because they don't want risk. Prize sky rockets for popular models in 2nd market. IRG goes super busy as they bring in pistols by individual orders of popular models.

Individuals who are fighting to exit now are capitulating too early, and they will miss the market ripping up between now and October.
 
I look at it the other way, for every ad posted on the EE in the past 24hrs, probably 25 pistols were bought instead. The volume coming off some of the sponsor sites is insane. I bet 10K-20K have been bought as a whole in the past 24 hrs. Maybe more...

The way things are on a rocket sled to hell, I think I will keep all that I have and buy more. We may need them for more than target shooting before long. Off to get some plastic pipe, silicone and a shovel.

But, how many will get tied up waiting for transfer approval when the final hammer drops?
 
I wonder how hard it will be to get spare parts for our guns after this. One justification for buying a dupe of your existing gun is to have a source of spare parts.

I got a .22 project gun that I was going to sell cheap to someone with the time to work on it, but never got around to it. I probably wont get a chance now as I am out of town on a vacation.
 
I guess I'm not so smart. I do have all the handguns I need really like now, and no way would I sell anything I currently enjoy shooting. I'll be on the range shooting it until I'm forced to stop by law. And right now that isn't the case. So I keep shooting. Wish you luck in your new hobby though.
