Can't decide between 2 pistols.

Looking for opinions on the pros and cons between Glock 17 and Smith and Wessen M&P for IDPA.

Any comments welcome.

I think the M&P is kind of like Smith & Wesson's version of the Glock. I have one (M&P) and really like it. The Glock didn't feel right in my hand.

My M&P in 9MM has been flawless and certainly works for IDPA in SSP division.

That said, recoil recovery plays a part in playing the games and you may find a steel gun better in that regard.

Of the two you name I've owned both.
To me it's a dead heat in 9mm, in .40 the M&P.
both are great pistols and amazingly similar when dissassembled ( glock is quicker/easier to completely dissassemble).
Try both but you may want to look at others.

Buy both, they're cheap.

Try a K100 or GP6 before you buy any onther polymer framed gun.
