Long story short.
I owned a Kimber previous, but had to sell due to short of funds. well now that things are back on track, I can re purchase a new 45acp. The two I'm looking at are, another Kimber 1911 custom 2. or now a Glock Gen 4 21. I have never owned a glock. but on youtube seen how nice an easy they are to clean. ( I'm lazy ) and I really like my NP22.

I'm thinking about a Glock because of the more easy cleaning and such.

What do you guys think?

I would tend to stay away from kimber, if you search the internet there are alot of reviews and problems reported by people who have them. The glock has big grips so you should go to a place where you can look at it closer.

Well i have number of different restricted and non-restricted and how easy they are to clean never came up when choosing.
What i am going to use it for, how does it fit me, which caliber to get, can i afford to buy and shoot it are usually questions that come to my mind.

That being said i do owe glock17 and CZ75 shadow. Do not see much time saved when taking glock apart. Never had kimber but did para p16-40 and also not much time saved when taking glock apart.

I would say if you happy with glock get it.

If you have larger hands you will enjoy the Glock, simple field strip and reliable. I think it will come down to trigger feel, a lot do not like the long first pull on the glock.

Easier to maintain, repair, get parts for, get accessories for, cheaper, more reliable etc... , comes with reliable mags,... Up to you in the end. Id get the glock.

If you are used to a SA trigger the Glock will give you nightmares IMHO.

It took me a long time to be able to shoot my G17 well, and even then I could always shoot a 1911, or Cz better.

In the end I don't play tacticool games with my guns and prefer to be able to make small groups, and it's hard to beat the 1911 for that.

I gave up on the Glock long ago, but still have a G22 just to have one.

I've got a Kimber Eclipse Custom 2 10mm and have never had a single problem with it, it's reliable and easy to maintain. The Kimber mags function flawlessly, it's some aftermarkets mags that tend to cause issues. I definitely plan on buying more Kimber's in the future.

That's really two quite different pistols in ergonomics and philosophy aren't they. Kind of opposite ends of the .45ACP spectrum. I'm not sure how to really compare them side by side for your decision. The G21 knocks the 1911 out of the park in practical duty type gun functionality, but the 1911's have the classic look and are deadly for punching tight groups on paper which is all most of us will ever do with a pistol anyways.

The Kimber's are fine looking pistol's for the money I believe if 1911's are your fav's,... but being a Glock guy I'd say G21 for sure. You mentioned a Gen4, and you probably know the G21 Gen3 is a large gripped pistol. You may also want to compare a Gen 3 21SF in your hand if a left over new,.. or lightly used one were available for you. I don't own a Gen4, but checking them out locally,.. I couldn't get the feel of the Gen 3 no matter what grip they installed on it. Maybe that was just me and the middle backstrap actually duplicated the Gen 3 grip. Good-luck with your decision. Either decision will probably make you happy unless as mentioned by miehtovaara, you have become accustomed the 1911's long narrow grip shape, depressing the grip safety, and the external safety, and will need a slight readjustment in your grip technique to appreciate the Glock..

Got a few Glocks and 1911's. Glocks fieldstrip in seconds and clean easy. I've never had a FTF with mine they have been super reliable.
I still prefer an all steel 1911 to a tuppergun but hey that's just me. I don't own a Kimber so I won't throw out an opinion ,
but as far as choice I would take the 1911. They just are classics. BTW Glocks are more reliable out of the box to 1911's in my opinion if you include
all low end models of 1911's and unfortunately some mainstream higher ends. A tweek here and there and most 1911's are good to go. A Glock with all it's advantages will never have the "Something"of a 1911.

Take the Glock 21 in the Gen 4 version. The Kimber is a good gun but they have has some reliability problems due to the use of MIM parts.

I have a Kimber Pro Carry II (I know different from what you are looking at) and as well many Glocks and truthfully I would say Glock. I am amazed how poorly the Kimber is holding up with its finish. Never an issue shooting it but the finish and mim parts just turn me off of the price point.

I've never had an issue with a Glock other then ammunition or user error. Very easy to break down and clean and boy do they last.

Nothing against Kimber a great first 75 rounds. The price point and longevity of the Glock sway me. 10 round mags that don't offer any feed issues.

I think I'm going to go with the Glock 21. I have based my decision on a few things.
1. Price
2. Easy feild strip and cleaning.
3. I like it comes with 3 mags.
4. Glock reputation.

Thanks all for the input. As only ever owning a 1911 for my 45acp needs, i thought id try someting new and see how I handle shooting it.
