Im in the market for another ar and I'm thinking about the DD mk18 or the barret rec 7. I don't get out and shoot very much. More so just collect nice guns. I am thinking I want to start practicing some drills and like the idea of a nice short gun. But i do like piston driven guns also the rec 7 goes nicely with my barret m99. I want to keep it around the $2000 mark. Im open to other options but those two caught my eye.

I have a non restricted acr to fill that void. Must say I'm not a fan of the tavor. Maybe I just haven't drank the koolaid. Sigs seem nice, any reason to choose them over DD

Barretts have 16" barrel and are over 3K now. The Sig 516 is very reliable for a piston gun and is sub 2K (if in stock).
If you want a short barrel piston AR consider a PWS Mod 1 with keymod foreend. They come in 10, 12, 14.5, 16 and 18 inch barrels. Compared to short stroke piston guns...LMT, SIG, Barrett, the PWS is much lighter and balances more like a DI AR. They are also much less expensive...but still more than the SIG 516.

If you are looking for a collector gun, maybe you should consider a Colt Canada limited edition SA15 or SA20. Only 500 of each ever built.
