Hey I was wondering if there is anyone else besides Russell's, The Shooting Edge and Wholesale Sports in Calgary and area that sells powder? I am looking for Varget and can't find it.

Unless Cabela's got a shipment lately....

Who knows, it's been a month since I checked them, but if they had any, us guys in the Peg here would be the first to know (or not, most of us dread going in there).

Was at Lebaron's and clerk said no more Hodgdon powders to Canada for some time all destine for USA

From the stock that all firearms retailers keep Hodgdon powders in stock this isn't too far from the truth. Can't find a 4lb or and 8lb anywhere, even finding a 1lb is enough to jump up and down in the streets. I'd sooner sever my own arm before paying $50 a pound for Varget.

COME ON CANADIAN FIREARM RETAILERS, GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND ORDER SOME RELOADING SUPPLIES, ESPECIALLY POWDER AND PRIMERS.

AND PRIMERS AREN'T $60/1000 regardless what you think, think along the lines of thirty something per 1000. Just because you order 3K in at a time doesn't make them scarce, only to your shop.

Enough with the excuses. They are out there, we want them. Just fricken order some stock or stut down your shabby operations and let a new company play.

Varget seems to be in scarce supply Stateside too. Rumour(on a US forum dated in March '09) has it that Varget is made in Australia and Hodgdon is waiting on a shipment.
"...Can't find a 4lb or an 8lb anywhere..." Special order due to the rules retailers have to follow. They can only have a certain total amount(forget how much) without being required to have an off-site powder magazine.
"...Lebaron's and clerk..." Don't believe what you hear in LeBaron's. Their clerks get paid minimum wage and no training. Just like Walmart.

Varget !!!!

Varget is definetly hard to find , i managed to get my hands on 3 lbs at the Kamloops gunshow last weekend , i ordered it from P&D and thet were saying that was the last of their stock and they were haveing problems finding more.

X2 on higginsons.
about a month and a half ago i got 32 lbs of hodgdon powder which include some varget. no waiting, no frustration, and no issue with supply.
those guys are great to deal with.

All of Hodgdons Etream powders are made in Australia, and all of IMRs' powders are made in Canada. I tend to think that the supply of everything in short at this time due to the buying frenzy started by the Obama administration; I also think that we are soon to be close to the end of that frenzy. People have bought all that they can afford, and due to the economy, they won't be buying much more. Due to the eventuality of the economy catching up with gun buyers, I tend to think that we will see the real cost of items very soon.

I don't know what Labarons you're shopping at, but the ones I go into don't even deal with Hogdon power....Winchester stuff only. Now, that being said, I was told that by a guy behind the counter. I wouldn't put a lot of weight in what the guy told you. They probably don't know anymore about what gets ordered than the guy mopping the floor.

Explains the name. My wife always gets a funny look on her face when I tell her I need some Varget.

Yeah, if I say Varget in an Australian Accent, makes me laugh too.
Tell your wife the winge in pom said hello.

PS. If she is not Australian then this post makes absolutely no sense wot so ever.

All the extreme powders from hodgdon are made in australia by ADI [australian defence industry] I emailed them several times about becoming a dealer for adi powders in canada and never received a response ,hodgdon probably has a deal with them to supply all of north america and on top of that IMR is canadian made and even that is hard to get .
Hodgdon has bought IMR winchester and god knows what else in the last few years they will soon be the only reloading supplier if this keeps up and we will be at there mercy .
we need a canadian importer for powder and primers the ADI line of powders in australia is the same as the hodgdon with diferent names [numbers] varget=ADI 7208? etc. it is sold there in KG instead of LBS.
