I have a Win 94 AE with see through mounts and a Bushnell trophy 1.75x4x32. The best i can get is 4" low at 25 yds. Suppose i need a new scope???

I had that issue recently using a new Bushnell 3200 7-21X scope on a 6mm-284 bolt action rifle.

I changed both rings and bases without it changing the point of impact, put the scope onto another rifle a 22-250 and it sighted in perfectly.

Ended up putting a 6 thou steel shim under the rear sight base the scope sighted in perfectly after that.

Not the best fix but it worked...

Perhaps try swapping front and rear base / rings from front to back and vice versa.

Be sure you're turning the dials the right way (my brother fell for that one for a while).

If you are truely out of elevation, Burris rings with inserts, shims or canted base may all be cheaper than new scope.

Tell him to use the common screw analogy, never mess up again

I can't swap the bases, but shimming up the front base makes sense. The scope is new.
on a rifle, u move the back sight in the direction u want the bullet to go.
on the front sight, it's u move the front sight towards where the bullet is
hitting. for a scope, same as a front sight. if u are out of elevation,
u would shim up the rear base to point the scope to the POI.
works for me

if shimming a scope make sure you shoot all the way out to 300 yds or at least 200. reason is if the scope is aligned out to 100 you may have issues at further distances if it is not shimmed at the back as well. you may need to shim both to keep your elevation adjustment correct (MOA). just a thought.

300yds with a 30-30, if I could ,i wouldn't. In placing a shim, I would just place it under the scope? To put it under the base would be hard be pretty hard on a Win 94 AE

I had an issue similar to this. Not enough elevation adjustment. You're going to have to ditch the high see-thru mounts, and go with a lower mount. Choose one or the other, scope or irons...not both

Shim up the rear base, not the front, to raise the point of impact. Its just like the old military rifles with the flip up rear sight. The further you want to shoot, the higher you raised the rear sight. Imagine if the rear of the scope was lifted 3" higher so the scope pointed down at 45 degrees. When you raised the scope to shoot at the horizon, the barrel would be pointed up at the clouds. So yes, you move the rear sight or rear of the scope in the same direction you wish the bullet to move. Up is Up, left is also left.

This is the universe's way of telling you not to scope a lever action. ;)
X2! .....
