I just can't seem to get my Ruger Mk III 22/45 back together again. Breaking it down was easy enough but on the last step of reassembly I can't swing the mainspring housing back into the gun without the bolt stop pin sliding out at the same time. In the manual it says that if this happens then I'm supposed to make sure that they barrel/receiver assembly is fully on the frame. When I put the barrel/receiver assembly back on the frame it says to push it back. I did that. It also mentions that if it doesn't go on completely to whack the grip with a hammer to force it forward. Tried that and beleive me it aint going any further forward; I tried a fair bit of force and the hammer isn't making any difference. WTF do I do now?? :(

Sounds like you don't have the bolt stop pin high enough through the receiver. Sometimes it will catch on the spring assembly on the bolt. Making sure it is all the way up will stop it from riding out when you swing it in.

I might be screwing up on Step 6, inserting empty mag, pointing gun down, firing to make hammer fall forward, how the heck do i know if it's forward, i don't get a 'click' noise or anything.

Is the hammer all the way forward? If you poke something in from the bottom of the magwell you can flip it forward (hold the gun muzzle down). I had this exact same problem (it sounds like) a few days ago.

oh yeah, point the gun upwards when you put the mainspring housing back in, theres a part (don't know what its called) that sits in a groove in the mainspring housing. Sorry, my terminology isn't all that #### hot

Nope, I tried pushing the hammer (that silver block when looked at through the back of the grip) forward and that didn't work, I'll give it another go though.
Yeah that doesn't work, you actually have to pull the trigger WITH the mag inserted (Mark III Rugers have the mag disconnect ;) )

Exactly.

When I insert a mag, point the gun down, and pull the trigger I don't know if anything is happening though...

This gun already sucks, first the P22 hitting me in the face with brass, now this, ugh, F%#@.

I think I got it.. .hold on

Nope, never mind. I tried inserting a mag while the muzzle was pointed up. The maingspring housing didn't fall out but the hammer pin dissappered.

Um, it's back together...sort of. I got the mainspring housing to go back into place but while doing it the little pin (tip of hammer strut) was way the heck inside the gun and not exactly visible.

I had a little grief last night with my MkII. I think the rum may have contributed to it a bit though.
