Can't get my Mk III 22/45 back together

Potential problem

WRONG!

RIGHT!

Here's a nice lil trick for getting it past the bolt...

Now I'm really screwed, I tried to take it apart again, got the mainspring housing out but now the bolt won't come out.

EDIT: Yep, bolt is jammed in there good. So, current situation, bolt is in gun, won't come out.

And Nine, my bolt stop pin looked like the one in the 'Right' pick. The potential problem confuses me.

And yes, I was able to pull the bolt all the way back, dry fired once and all was well.

Easy to fix. pop out the mainspring (LEAVING THE BOLT STOP IN PLACE!) point the gun upwards and re insert mainspring housing (there is a little metal piece that fits into a groove in the mainspring housing)

Yep, I have to press the slide release on mine to get the bolt back in too, I guess that's "normal". Crafty little buggers to put back together, aren't they?

Nope, probably not the 'potential problem' My bolt stop pin goes all the way up and clicks into place. After that, when I invert the pistol and try to wing the mainspring housing back in, the pin slides right back down. This is done with the mag out.

That video is kinda confusing... what's going on in it?

are you depressing the trigger? You need to insert mag, pull trigger and hold it down. remove mag while still holding trigger. point pistol upward, swing in mainspring assesmbly. Pulling the trigger without inserting a mag is useless.

Ok, for the last step it says not to put the mag in. When I try putting the mag in and swinging the housing back in it goes just fine, but the little pin that is supposed to be there isn't.

Think I got it:

Ok, so once the bolt is back in I insert a mag, point gun down, pull the trigger. I had to manually push the hammer forward. Then, with the mag still inserted (I think) I pushed the bolt stop pin through the little whole where it's supposed to go. Then, I point the gun up, pull trigger, release trigger, while gun is pointed up I remove the mag, then swing housing back in. Bolt now full retracts, slide stop works, dry fires.

This it??

The only time you have to pull the trigger is right before you put the mainspring housing back in, and the only time you have to point the gun up is when you put the mainspring housing back in

Whew, thanks to all the CGN's, particularly Nine and Iamcanadianeh. Damn, I'm spent, I need a drink.

*Didn't mean to tie up the pistol forum, this is why we need a CGN chat area.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

No worries. The 22/45 is actually a good pistol once you get over feeling like throwing it in the trash after field stripping it for the first time.
