Can't get my scope rings off!

Well, I'm a little disappointed in myself today. Got a set of Warne Mountain Tech scope rings last year and mounted them on my rifle. Today, I wanted to remove the scope and go back to using the sights. However, I cant get the scope rings off! I keep turning the nut that clamps the rings down on the Pic rail, but they just spin and aren't loosening off! I may have stripped them when I installed them initially without knowing. What to do! I remove the scope by taking the hex nuts out of the rings but now just the lower piece of the rings are left on the rifle. Any suggestions?

Wedge something flat under the rings and apply upward pressure, while unscrewing?

Can you remove the pic rail or are the rings covering those mounting screws. If you can remove the rail put in vice and carefully cut rings off.

Unfortunately not. The pic rail is part of the receiver like on an AR.

I think you are going to have to make up a forked flat piece of thin steel to force under the nut you are trying to remove.
If you can apply some outward force while unscrewing it you might be able to coax it off.

What he did was spin the wedge head off the cross screw and when he turns nut all he is doing is spinning screw, so hold nut drill head off screw or split the nut but better to drill head off.
