Cant get scopes to zero.. always high and left (on calibration tool)

It is a Mosin, Those rear sights are on a 12mm dovetail. Damn knows if they' re are true. I also seen the rear sight base not square and allowing the sight mounted bases to go crooked.

I had better luck using the dovetail then the rear sight mounts.

took it to P&D and they lapped the rings and got it to zero with plenty of adjustment room for up to 800M shots or so.(not that i'm anywhere near that good especially with a long eye relief 3.5-12x scope)
it was a bit of a trick... but it worked out fine :)
cost me $50 for the hour or so the optics guy played with it.
 
I always buy the Millet rings that are windage adjustable. No bore-sighter either - I bore sight by removing the bolt, centering the bore on the target and making the scope line up with it. Never fail to have a first shot on target at 100 yds. Takes perhaps five shots to get it where I want it.

I will never use Millet rings, they earned the nickname "mangle locks".
