can't shoot a XxS

I'm O.K. with Henry ... and I think he's commenting on the "Boy" part, not the
"Beretta" part ! ( ...cause I'm pretty sure Henry's a Beretta fan too ! )

I'll admit to being an "old fart" ... but one that's still pretty young at heart - and can run & gun & hold my own with the "youngsters". Just wish I'd had all this clay target, waterfowl & upland experiance I could tap into when I was a teen-ager !

oh! oops. thanks for clarification beretta boy. guess i am being a little overly sensitive there- your posts have been a big help to me, not only on this thread but many otheres i have come across.

i still have not patterned the SxS. got all caught up in the club shooting IPSC game. but that ends this weekend, then time to move on to other good stuff.
keep "runnin and gunnin"

Patterned the SxS

hi helpful people,
patterned the gun as suggested: starting with aiming at a spot from a bench rest (on my elbows), the pattern at 16 yards was about 18" in diameter. both barrels shot in the same place (actually, one right on top of the other). the pattern was low and to the left. the dot was sitting at about 2:00 on the edge of the pattern,
ok, then bring the gun up and shooting at the dot. wow! way low and to the left. i figure that if i was shooting at a target at trap range (say, 35 yards) i would miss by almost a yard. so what to do? i don't know the magic equation for altering the stock with pads.
so i decided to work on the suggestion of concentrating only on the target, ignoring the rib and those two imposing barrels. i found this to be quite a chore, since i am used to pump action guns.
decided to use static targets (bowling pins) since i can't hit anything moving, and i needed a reference for point of impact. eventually, after about 25 shots, i found that i was hitting the pins very squarelyas long as i looked only at the target
maybe no alteration is necessary? simply practice with an unfamiliar, instinct type mode of shooting.
i would still be interested in ideas for padding the stock. but i will also be taking the gun to the trap range next week and give the "just look and shoot" idea a try on a moving target.
all the help much appreciated.
