Can't take the wait- SJAR SLR build thread- IT'S HERE!

I have NF High 1.125" rings on it now but will go with a one piece cantilever mount with some cant and probably 1.5" height. These rings are ok for prone but too low on the bench.

Awesome, I was thinking of a canti with 1.5 height

Ok I'll play.

MDI Receiver set
FN 20" 1:7 CHF chrome lined barrel, rifle length gas
Geissele super gas block
Rainer Arms gas tube
PWS FSC556 mod 2 flash suppressing compensator(FSC)
ALG Defense 15" V3 handguard
BCM LPK with their PNT trigger
Magpul MOE plus grip
Strike industries dust cover
Daniel Defense recevier extension
Standard carbine spring
Magpul MOE stock(will be swapped for Magpul STR)
Spikes Tactical T2 tungsten buffer
Colt Canada BCG
BCM Gunfighter Mod4 charge handle
Magpul MBUS pro rear(front is coming)
Trijicon TA33 ACOG red horseshoe on an ADM B2 mount

Update- Major major problems with my SLR today, not happy at all.

Ran out of ammo far too quickly.

200 plus rounds fired, 3 stoppages all due to a questionable magazine which when pressed hard into the bench(stability folks not abuse) would cause a failure to eject. Got it hot, real hot. Too hot to hold in fact. The mirage was enough to prevent me from getting a good sight picture through the ACOG. All mags locked open on empty (LAR, Pmag, Hexmag, Beowolf) the mag well is still very tight.

Load development

I was finally able to get some load testing done today with Lapua brass and Berger 130gr VLD bullets. I used varget and the starting load was the best so far.

Quite happy with mine so far...almost done assembling.
As mentioned the roll pin holes are super tight, wouldn't hurt to run a small round file through to create some clearance.
My metal magazines drop free and polymer mags almost drop.
The Phase 5 extended bolt catch fits nicely, does not contact the receiver at all.
I had to notch my Odin O2 lite handguard slightly on the inside where the dust cover pin is. And I'm thinking about modifying my trigger box so I can get a better trigger in there. I have a Hiperfire 243G and a Velocity 3 lb so I might give it a go since I simply cannot stand a milspec trigger.
I'll update with pics later after I finish with the handguard and Precision Armament brake.
I like the tight fit of the upper and lower, I'll be handloading some Sierra 77 grain TMK in Lapua brass so it's nice to have everything solid even if that wiggle supposedly doesn't affect accuracy.

Next step, a better trigger and load development.

Cut my buck tag this evening. 125 yards quartering away and the shot hit him a little farther back than I wanted but I got a good lung hit. He went about 120 yards over the next ridge and was dead. Because I was in a tree stand and the shot was higher up on his chest there wasn't much of a blood trail which concerned me but his chest cavity was full. 125gr partition doing about 2500 fps through and through which is too bad because I like to see how the bullet looks although I know pretty well how this one wound up.

Quick update on my SLR. I'm just over 700 rounds through the Grendel and it has settled in nicely accuracy wise. I'm getting good accuracy and long distance performance from Berger 130gr VLD bullets and Lapua brass fueled by CFE 223.

I've had it out to 1030 yds this winter with no difficulty.

I've tweaked some more parts and after this morning I can say the build is finished after adding Aadmount scope caps to the ATACR. The factory Tenebraex failed in -45° this winter on a hunt.
