I have a DA Socom with a scout scope mounted on a railed handguard-replacement mount. Works wonderfully...but it would be nice to be able to swap in a conventionally mounted scope for some shooting. I've seen a few photos of these guns with a conventional (non-scout) scope mounted in a cantilevered mount, which is then mounted in the reversed position...the mount clamps to the forward scout-positioned pic rail, and extends backward over the receiver to position the scope normally. The scope sits fairly high, but no more so than any typical receiver-mounted one. I can't decide if its brilliant or idiotic.:) Can anyone who has used this type of set-up comment on how it worked out?
