Canuck shotguns

I’m also wanting to know about their quality from actual users. I also want to know if you can put aftermarket items on them (Magpul, and if they are 870 or 500/590 style).

Just passed the 1k rds mark on my regulator. It long ago worked into a fairly smooth cycling shotgun comparable to the new 870s. Zero issues with target loads, 00 buck or slugs.

I havent done anything to it, still in factory configuration Aftermarket 870 parts do not fit the regulator, however there is a gun smith, name escapes me, out of the belleville area that makes adapter plates that will let standard 870 stocks and such mount on the canuck receiver. Havent gotten around to changing anything on it, but its mostly for screwing around on the range and breaching doors so not really sure I need to.

For 300 bucks it is a good buy.

The leather scabbard it came with was underwhelming and would need some serious rework to turn into something useful.

I own a Canuck and it has the same config as an 870. Little stiff brand new, but, is starting to get smoother as I put more rounds through it. No problems so far. Actually like it, especially for the price point...

Have you guys made tube extensions or forend adapters as well? Sorry to hear about the rip off Simon, I still remember my box of chocolates (parts kit for my 870 showed up in pot of gold box lol).

I just bought a Canuck Regulator and have taken it out once so far.

Put cheap bird shot and challenger 00 buck through it. It cycled perfectly for me. My buddy had feeding issues with it but he has issues with every gun he touches. He managed to get one shell on the lifter and the next one half in the tube pushing the one on the lifter. He just handed to me since he had no idea what happened. I have no idea how he managed that and I have shot various pump guns and taken a shotgun class with a pump before.

The stock is hollow and very light weight plastic so I had a bruise and lines after shooting the 00 buck, I was wearing a t shirt. Strongly recommend low recoil buck shot with you plan to shoot a bunch of shells. It reminds me a lot of the magpul stock in shape. Its kinda weird compared to a normal shotgun stock. Shooting bird is nothing, bird shot does not kick that hard.

The stockless grip that seems to have multiple names is fun. I say it works best for hip firing which is a viable shooting method for shooting people or bear sized targets. Trying to shoot flying targets is not impossible but will be very difficult. I am sure it would be a convenient package for shooting prairie chickens since it can be aimed. Going to give the obvious " don't be an idiot and hold lightly near your face". Shooting 00buck does not hurt like you imagine. The recoil mostly goes out the back of the grip into the air. (I am sure there is a science to that) I actually prefer to shoot 00 buck with this grip than the stock.

It came with full, mod and cyl choke which is nice. I just kept the mod choke in because I think its a good balance for what I was doing and what I think this shotgun is viable for. Cyl choke spreads quickly with the addition of 14" barrel modified choke just makes more sense to me. Full is also kinda silly but I am sure it would do well for prairie chicken headshots.

The quality is good enough in my opinion. If you try to compare it to let's say a Winchester 1200 (my other shotgun) it is noticeably cheaper quality but it works. My prediction of part breakage would be where the slide bars connect to the fore end. That part look overly cheap. It looks like the metal bars where set into the plastic and that's it. I could be wrong. If that ever breaks I will just glue it back together and move on.

I do have an ad for it on the EE because it was an impulse buy and I don't really need it. I justified buying it for fun and defense. I don't run into a lot of dangerous animals though.
