CANADIAN ACADEMY OF PRACTICAL SHOOTING Inc.
Dynamic Live-Fire Judgment Training
14-hour program ($ 400.00)
This two-day program puts your true defensive shooting skills to the ultimate test. Facing life-size
humans on a video projection screen you will show your ability to properly assess dangerous
situations and accurately deliver live ammunition when and where necessary. This is the most
realistic training possible without loss of blood.
Theory covers the human dynamics of confrontation and the essential issue of reaction time as it
applies to your armed response to physical violence. Threat analysis and after the fact articulation
and justification of your use of force are major issues that are discussed in detail.
You may already be fast and accurate with a powerful gun but in a self defense situation you
must also be RIGHT. In armed confrontation there is no “Beep” to start things off and no “Par-
Time” to tell you to stop shooting. Human cues are all you get.
This is the “Canadian Version” of the program offered at Smith & Wesson Academy in
Springfield, MA for the past seven years.
At the end of this program the student will have proven live-fire decision-making abilities,
something the majority of Canadian police DO NOT HAVE, as well as a certificate that attests to
their skill and safe handling of a handgun for defensive purposes.
You will need: Prior training in the use of a holster.
A skill level that permits you, on demand, to hit an 8.5””x11” sheet of paper at
seven yards in 1.5 seconds from a low-ready position.
200 rounds of ammunition (minimum).
A defensive firearm, 9mm or larger caliber (no race guns, no optics).
A belt holster and magazine/speedloader pouches suitable for concealed carry
with a minimum of 3 magazines or 4 speedloaders.
Instructor: Dave Young is President, C.E.O. and Director of Training of CAPS Inc. and is the
creator of the CAPS Live-Fire Judgment Training System. He is a master-class shooter and is
certified by Smith & Wesson Academy to teach the revolver, semi-automatic pistol, shotgun and
submachine gun to law enforcement and is certified as a Range Master by SIG Arms Academy.
Dave is a Firearm Instructor Trainer as well as an Instructor Trainer in the field of firearms
judgment simulation and officer survival, a Master Use of Force Instructor, an adjunct instructor
with Smith & Wesson Academy an expert witness in the use of deadly force and the author of
“Reasonable & Necessary, Defensive Firearms Ownership and Use in Canada

Thanks
