As I continue my quest to obtain a handgun (see post under Shorten PAL Approval Times... or search for Captain's Log 20110322.1 - 37 Days for PAL/RPAL), I discover that not only do I require a license, I also require authorization to move it around from place to place.

So I combined a Silvercore version with a PCDHFC version and did the following:
A - Personal Information - filled it out correctly (license, names, residence, day/evening phones, checked "same as home" for the mailing
B - Firearm Information - entered this: "All firearms for which the authorization holder possesses a valid registration certificate"
C - Reason for transport - checked D and entered "All approved gunsmiths" and checked M with "DVC Indoor Shooting Centre and all other approved gun clubs & ranges"
D - Dates and Times of Transport - I entered 2011/03/17 to 2016/03/18 and 00:00 to 24:00; I checked off "Daily"
E - Transport Route - Left it blank
F - Signed/dated

I faxed the form along with a copy of my DVC membership info on March 17. I received my LTATT in the mail today, 5 days later.

The final LTATT included transport to/from exit/entry {reason for transport i)} which allows me to take it to the U.S.; was not planning on doing that so I did NOT put that on my app but the CFO added it on anyway. Very cool. The TO: date was changed though, to less than 5 years and is 1 year short of my PAL expiry. Oh well...just need to remember to apply again before this one expires.

Quite pleased with the turnaround time.

I got a very similar one a couple of weeks ago, I dropped the app off in person on a Friday, received my ATT, postmarked and dated for the Friday, on Tuesday.

Not bad at all if you ask me!

It should expire when your PAL expires . And they all have to US border on them

That's what I had read. My PAL is good for 5 years and 5 months (July 2016) which seemed odd. Since there is a 5 year limit to the ATT, I put 5 years from the date I sent it in (March 2016). They adjusted it to my birthday...but I guess they had to choose July 2015 because July 2016 is over 5 years. I'll assume a computer system forced it.

However, I'm not too concerned at this point in time. I'm set for the next several years.

well, i think i really should apply for my ATT now that i bought a gun :)

lol, i went to lever arms and ended up buying a tt-33... i also forgot to look at the other guns i came to look at...

impulse buys FTL but then again, at 200$ with 80 rounds can't go wrong :D
