Years ago (10-15), there were a lot of black coyotes around Tofield Ab. We shot 8, all were crosses. Someone shot a black husky chasing a deer. We think that was the father. Yours looks far more coyote than our coy dogs did.
Amazingly rare colour coyote. There has been a few shot around in Ontario that I know about.
My buddy has a full mount done of one, He has run hounds for coyotes and kills 100+ a year. He told me he has hunted with dogs for 50 years now and thats the only black one he has ever seen.
He loves showing it off and when people say are you sure its not a Wolf? He says "Its a German Sheppard actually"
Just for the looks he gets, Never tells them he's kidding either haha.

No, not very common at all.... I never seen one before or know of anyone personally that has taken or even seen one. I have seen a few pictures on the internet but this is the first I have ever come across, so they got to be pretty rare, around here anyway....

Yes, I asked my son what he wants me to do with it. He wants me to prep/tan it so it can hang between the two that he currently has in his room...
It will be quite the contrast
