I'm not a big mil-surp guy but last summer I picked up a sweet Jungle Carbine, And I'm now awaiting the arrival of my polish m44. now the other day I stumbled across a pic of a Sweedish M94 carbine , I've beem to alot of gun shows and have seen alot of peoples surp collections but I have never seen one of these carbines before. Are they rare? whats their value? and where can they be found? Also what are your favorite carbines? Thanks.

May I suggest a Spanish FR-7 or FR-8, while rare they do pop-up.
I snagged a FR-7 (7.62X51) and love it.

If you ever manage to find a M94/14.....just buy it. It's a perfect little carbine.

I have a fascination with carbines myself, I'm collecting them and at the same time trying to find the perfect milsurp for deer hunting. So far I've amassed only two carbines, but I think that's respectable for a student working part-time I have a great Mosin Nagant M38 and a serviceable Steyr M95, by serviceable I mean that I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it but I'd be surprised if I hit anything ha ha.
I'd love to have a FR-7 or FR-8 but for the price of one in good condition I might be able to buy a couple different carbines...

A buddy gave me an 1893 or '95 Spanish cavalry carbine in 7x57.
Sadly, someone had decided to "sporterize" it, so the stock has been varnished, the top wood gone, some basement workshop checkering has been applied and the butt has been extended with different wood.
But it's still a real cute short little gun, drilled for a receiver sight and scope too.
It had been used as a PAL teaching rifle with a broken firing pin, so I had that replaced and it even shoots!

Hmmm being an enfield guy I would have to say my EAL is nice but the No5 is also a nice to have carbine, and then there is the Tanker I built from a bubba, but its just a salvaged bubba really. Some of the Parker Hale sporters are almost short enough to be called carbines.
I have a M44 and a Spanish Guardia Civil 1916 7x57.
The Guardia has a 21" barrel so it's a little longer than the M44 but it's way lighter,smoother, more accurate and well made. I shudder to think what it would cost to make one of these nowadays.
One thing I had to do was build up the front sight some with JBweld as the lowest sight setting was 300m. It was shooting almost 2ft high at 100yds!!
It was in rough shape when I got it but I reblued and refinished the stock with linseed, not a bad deal for 120$ and some elbow grease.

If you find a Swede carbine, I suggest you invest in a REALLY GOOD pair of ear protectors. I once fired three rounds from one of those before I owned a set, and my ears were ringing for a half-hour.
I'm having a similar problem with my M38, it's shooting a good foot high of POA at 100m with my regular ammo so I'd like to try applying some JB weld to my front sight as you did. I've never used JB weld but I'm guessing you just applied a dab to the top of the front sight post and then filed it down until it was bang on.

I picked a swede m94 up at military antiques about 20 years ago when he was on orconer drive in TO it was to be my 2nd swede my first was a m96 but wanting a shooter and not into collecting then i returned it as it had exssive head space the bolt did not match and was binding in the action the smith said the receiver was bent as he tried to slide another swede bolt in and it had problems too.To bad it was a nice looking rifle and all complete except the bolt. i would still like one though.
