LOL .... Read the feedback that fellow has. There is a bit of history there of tire kicking. I get tired of that stuff.

I have a 700 308 in a Brown Precision. I think it identifies as a 358Winchester. Have the loading kit as well. No minds have been made up yet.

Black nitride is an option for stainless, but I’ve heard very mixed reviews on its affect on accuracy of certain barrels.

Temp for nitriding is up near 1100 F which may alter metals, much prefer teflon coating at only ~ 350 F and more durable than baked paints

I have one rifle that was TEFLON coated ( NOT gun kote -not Cerakote ) by Corlanes over 30 years ago ! I don’t know who might do that now a days

did a ss rebarrel to an ABolt Stalker using a take-off, then coated action, bolt and barrel

Chrome moly is a type of carbon steel, very popular for gun barrels.the "30" designates the percentage of carbon

Teflon will look like garbage it time. I’ve never coated a rifle with anything that I didn’t regret doing at some point.

flawless so far, but I don't abuse that one much
I have one Duracoated that has scratches through to the shiny and all finish worn off the bolt knob but that was a daily carry in the scabbard for a few years
certainly no regrets

My favorite 350 Rem Mag, built on a 98 Mauser, is Teflon coated. I've had that one close to 40 years now. Can't remember who did it now though. - dan

Turns out that there is a fellow locally who doing rust bluing. Good to know for a carbon steel barrel project.
