Ok guys......

I have 2 Carcanos that have been in my collection for quite some time (years) and I have never shot either of them.

Both are M91s in 6.5x52

I have not shot them because I have no ammo for them. I think that it is high time they got out to the range..

Now........

WHERE THE HELL CAN I GET AMMO?

I asked at the local gun shop (Gobels) but they said that they could not get any.

Ideally I would like to start reloading them as I already reload 6.5x55

In Canada, Norma (wickedly expensive) is about the only game in town, except for old click-bang military ammo that rarely turns up at gunshows. Reloading is probably a must for this caliber. In the USA, Cole lists some on their site, but the maker is not on the list of importable caliber.

The ammo is now being made by Prvi Partizan in Yugoslavia and in Portugal by FNM. As far as North America is concerned, it is also being mf'd by HORNADY.

Hornady also puts out brass in this calibre AND the correct .268" slugs.

Yeah, Carcanos are a lot of fun, easy to load for, too. Many have bores too large for the "normal" (but not for this rifle) .264" slug, but I have had considerable success with a combination of the Remington bulk 140 SP and 4198 powder: the very fast powder gives the undersized slug enough of a kick to start it obturating.

The Norma stuff is very nice, but a box costs the same as a rifle: does NOT make sense. We know all about det hojst svensk qvailitet, but just how much qvalitet can we afford? They are pricing themselves out of the market.... and the Carcanos off the ranges. All hail, Hornady!

Actually the same stuff, FNM Ammo Factory does not exist anymore, but someone in Europe is using the name and having it stamped on the Partizan Ammo.

- Is someone is Canada going to import the Hornady Ammo?

There are a couple of Graf's distributors in Canada. They usually have either the Hornady ammo or the reloading components. Raynor 'Shine gunworks in Saskatchewan or BC Redneck in BC. Don't have the contact info, but google works on them.

I don't know, maybe a dealer in Sherbrooke might want to do that:D

I was told (last night) that Canadian Tire is now importing and selling the full range of Partizan, including 6.5x52, 9.3x62, 7.5x55 Swiss, 7.5x54 French and a whole bunch more. If they are, they will be getting most of my pension cheque tomorrow. Spaghetti, anyone?

My guess in the one in Kenora, don't they still stock guns?

Yes, the CT store in Kenora sells quite a few guns actually, and he goes to quite a few gun shows as well. He even has the odd milsurp that he sells. I once just missed a swedish 94 Cavalry carbine at that store by a few days.
