I have what I believe to be an 1940 Italian Carcano 1891/38 in 6.5x52mm. I recently purchased some nice en bloc clips as well as a nice bayo with frog and sheath on the EE. When I finally got the gun out to work on it, I noticed right away that the bayo is not going to fit on this gun. I am hoping to get some insight on this rifle from some other 38 owners and see what I need to do to get it set up correctly. I am also curious on what sling would have been mounted to this gun. Any help is appreciated as always.

Strange E (Ellas?) marking on receiver. I would check caliber because it could be for the 6.5 Greek Mannlicher cartridge. 6,5 carcano ammo should fire but with headspace issue.

A "Terni" 1938 Carcano is the rifle that was said to have been used by Lee Harvey Oswald to kill JFK. A story surrounded by controversy for over 50 years. A nice addition to your collection.

Thank you both as well for your input. I have no books about this rifle, I have not yet had a chance to fire it. Any advice on what sling was used with this rifle?
