Carcano calverycarbine

Yup they are .264
Have a box of ppu 123gr soft points and they are .264 too
The bore on it is pretty good the bullets are no where near bottoming out when doing the “bullet test”
The bore is nice and shiny but the borescope shows some pitting
I also got a 1934 T.S. as well and the bore on it is terrible
It was right full of dirt and rust when I got it, couldn’t even shine a bore light down it
The end was plugged solid, not sure how Corwin was able to grade the bore on this one! Lol
Been scrubbing with kroil and copper solvent and it’s getting cleaner but it is a dark bore and has pits/ frosting so it probably won’t shoot good at all
The wood and metal on it is better then the cavalry carbine though
Make a good wall hanger if anything

If you can find some proper size bullets, .268 they both might shoot well.

I have had rifles with pitted bores, ex RC K98s that shot under 2 moa as far as I could see a target.

I have an svt40 that shoots surprisingly well with a dark pitted bore
The Carcano barrel is actually cleaning up better then I thought it would
It might be alright with the proper bullets.
I have the reloading gear for the 6.5 Carcano just need to get some of those .268 bullets
Got some hornady 140gr eld match bullets that I might try for the heck of it

There’s a photo of it on post #34. I am happy with it, i think it was a pretty fair price I paid. Only 3 days to receive it after ordering it. If I was looking for another M91 carbine I would do the same thing I did again. It’s a light handy carbine, I don’t think the accuracy is ever going to be astounding but I wanted it more for my collection than a shooter, my current collecting goal is to have a action type collection so instead of having a ton of very similar variants I want a ton of variety.

Looks fine. Thanks for sharing.
So many reasons for "needing" another rifle - lol. Good luck with the collection!

This thread inspired me to dig out my Carcanos. I have a carbine that my Uncle Louis "liberated" from an Italian soldier in Italy in WW2 and brought home. Also have a Bubba'd carbine and a gorgeous arsenal refurbed long rifle absolutely like new. The bores are like new in the vet bring back and the refurbed long rifle. Both shoot .264 diameter bullets pretty decent. I never shot the worn and bubba'd carbine but the bullet test in the muzzle tells me there is no point with .264 diameter bullets. It almost goes to the cartridge mouth where the other two have 1/4" of bullet exposed still. I measured a box of original Italian ball ammo I saved from years ago and bullet diameter is .266 to .2665 diameter not .268! I didn't find that .002 difference in bullets drastically affected accuracy in the two I shoot occasionally but as stated the bores are very tight , bright and unworn. I expect a worn bore would result in horrid accuracy with .264. I checked the box of Norma Carcano ammo and it has .264 diameter bullets. I have never shot out past 100 yards with my reloads but they group maximum 3 inches. My eyes aren't what they used to be though. I am sure someone with good eyes could get better results. that carbine has a dirty muzzle blast and kicks pretty hard. Lol

Always good when the price is fair. Enjoy.
I picked up two Carcanos a few months back and I'm happy adding them to the collection. As for accuracy, I'll have to get to know their behaviour better over time.

There's something nice about their simplicity...
