I have recently acquired, just for fun, a sporterized Carcano, converted to 6.5x54 M.S. caliber. At the range today I was getting only light primer strikes, no ignition.

Do any of you with Carcano experience have a suggestion as to what the problem might be and how to fix it?

Thanks for your help.

There are two things to check - firing pin tip protrusion from the bolt face and your headspace.
Remouve the bolt from the action and decock the bolt and mesure the firing pin protrusion it has to be 50 thou or more.
If it is -so, then check the headspace with one non fired brass. It has to be 3-4 thou or less even 5 will be ok.
Then depending of what you find it has to be corrected.
