ok fixing up an old 6.5x52 carcano my buddy he found in a old barn.......:rolleyes:

bore is great but outside will need a clean up.

also will need 2 or 3 ammo clips so gun will function as intended.

and some ammo.........

ANY SOURCES OF CLIPS /AMMO.

Too bad you didn't post it before Sunday.On a gun show I picked up 3 shot enbloc for Berthier from the guy who also had bunch of Carcano enblocs :)
 
thanks ..........only got gun yesterday to look at / decide to save it .
he plans to keep it as a truck gun /rainy day gun .

NEXT QUESTION ...........AMMO is it available /what cost ? he plans to hunt a bit but not much else so a box or 2 would last him a few years . 20- to 40 rounds ........i think would d o.
 
Norma makes the stuff, but the price is utterly horrendous.

You can just about buy 50 brass and 100 slugs (Trade-Ex) and a set of cheap dies (Lee Factory Sales) and load the whole 50 rounds twice-over, for the price of 2 boxes.

Hornady has it available in the USA at a reasonable price, but it seems as if nobody wants to bring it in. Partizan makes it, too..... but nobody seems to be bringing it in. Hmmm.... I'm saying that a lot...... but that's the way it is in Canada.

caution if it has double set triggers, if it does, do some research.

caution if it has double set triggers, if it does, do some research.
 
it has single trigger ...........only weird unusual thing i notice are in most all photosi have seen, it is round were barrel meets the action , on mine it is a hexagon shape on barrel were it meets the reciever...........
i am no expert on carcanos is it a m38 or a cut down m91 perhaps ?:confused:

"...AMMO is it available..." Epp's lists it. Likely Norma. No prices on their site. Won't be cheap though. They're listing 2 18 round boxes of milsurp ammo, on stripper clips, at $25 each. Listed under 'This n That' then Ammo. Right at the top.
 
ok if its kosher pm me the dealer or any dealer with some ammo.
mite even consider reloads if they are proper made ...........its only for hunting / a bit of plinking use nothing to extensive.

The Army - Navy store has 6.5X52mm. I seen some yesterday, $28ish a box.
It was either PP or S&B.

If you want I can buy some for you and have it shipped up - at your expense of course.

Dies are about $23 from Lee Factory Sales. Trade-Ex Canada (tan link at 10 o'clock from the beaver at the top of this page) has brass at $35/50 and it's brand-new Partizan, Boxer primed to boot. They also stock the Hornady .267/.268 - 160 grain slug for the Carcano at $39/100.

SOME Carcanos will run okay on standard .263/.264 slugs. I have a Model 1941 that just loves the things. But MOST Carcanos really NEED that fatter bullet to get decent accuracy.

What is decent accuracy with a Carcano? I have a TS38 here which was rebuilt in 1956. The Italians kept Carcanos hanging around for a LONG time because they beat out the Garands (American and Italian both) every time it came time for precision shooting. Beating a good Garand CONSISTENTLY really takes some doing, too: they are accurate, no quibble. That's why I have both.
