Carcano questions

I picked up an 1891 Carcano Calvary carbine but it is missing the bayonet and front sight. Bore is frosty.
Any idea of age and value? Is it a collector or just a shooter? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately with the front sight and bayonet removed it’s not a complete carbine anymore. I imagine that finding the sight and the original bayonet for it will be quite hard. The m91 carbines were made from the mid 30’s to early 40’s if memory serves me right. Having said that I would value the rifle at 100 dollars maybe 150 if your lucky. Hope this helps

These are infantry rifle bayonet and have nothing to do with his rifle. Carcano cavalry carbine use a under folding spike bayonet
They we're made from 1893 to the mid 40's

I woudn't pay more than a 100 bucks for it

the easiest way to find the parts is to buy another complete rifle. all I managed to find was a guy on eBay reproducing the pivot pin and spring for the folding bayo

Unfortunately it could be hard to find what's missing to be complete AND it looks like it as seen better days...one in way better condition,matching numbers and complete would sell somewhere around 450-500$ to the right buyer. I think there's one on EE right now.
