Caribou?

Maybe you two should take this to the PMs or ask a mod to change the thread title to "cessna vs TakDriver". I came hear to read about caribou hunting. Continuing this is making you TakDriver look like an arrogant jerk (which I'm sure you aren't when unprovoked) who can't just leave it alone. Cessna had the decency to duck out. Hopefully you both can leave this alone and let the rest of us ignore your sideshow.

$10k would get the two of you a decent caribou hunt in northern manitoba. The spring season in GHA1 is closed to non-residents but the fall season is still open. You can purchase two tags each on a first-come first-serve basis.

Ace Outfitters is a good place to start.

I also know a few that went up to hunt with Mirage Outfitters. I think they would of spent 1500-2000$ by the time it was all said and done. if you count all the gas, snowmobile rental, guide...tags....outfitting....etc...etc. It depends, but yes the fees you pay in the winter are way cheaper.

I think its worth it....apparently not much of a sporting hunt but the best wild meat ive ever had.
 
I'm booked to go to Northern Quebec the first week in December. 24 hour drive one-way.

Yesterday,I wrote a cheque for $1700: Outfitter costs less license, guide, sled. etc. for three days, taxes incl.

Based on what by friends have been paying for the last few years, Final cost, including fuel and butchering should amount to be about 2300.00 each.

The camp is called Kiskimaastakin and is in the same (more or less) regions as Mirage.

Well, apparently sh*t happens when a guy doesn't check gunnutz for a few days!

By the general trend of things, I think that I better get in on the hunts before they stop. I'd like to think of myself as a fairly sporting hunter, so the question of an ethical guide actually does matter to me. I think a smaller operation would be more in my sights. I'm more after the general experience of going and spending a week somewhere remote. See some outdoors and if I'm lucky shoot a caribou. Thats why I want to do this with the wife. She's the best hunting buddy a guy could ever ask for, and this is for her just as much as it is for me.
