I just got my Colt AR-15 20" flat top. I would like to add a carry handle, but am not sure if it matters which one I buy? could someone suggest one and where to get it?
also, will it then clip onto the flat top or do I have to remove that flat top?

They just screw on with two knobs.

If you want to keep it authentic get a colt. otherwise it's irrelevant unless you're buying utter junk.

The possibilities are endless. A BUIS will take up less space and give you the option of an alternate optic.

so it will just screw on to my flat top (like a scope would?) where is the best place to grab one? (which one of our sponsors carry Colt model?)

Try the Equipment exchange. I got my colt Handle from down south a long time ago for $75 shipped.

For the price you pay up here for "colt" you should consider a flip up BUIS.

listen to armament, get a flip up with a red dot or somthing, my first stag came with the flip up and i like it. i have the detachable carry handle on my second ar but find it useless, becuase i have better options with the flat top other then an iron sight.

There is a Colt Carry Handle in the EE for $120 which is nice, but if you plan on getting optics down the road later save your self the time and money now and just get a good BUIS that you want. KAC, Troy, GG&G and MidWest all make good rear sights that will do you fine.

I would not bother with a carry handle unless your gonna have a set M16A2 clone done with your 20" sporter.
