Carry handle not aligned

I just bought a cheap offshore AR and the rear sight has to be all the way to one side for it to be on target. The groups are ok, just it's only good to 50 yds without getting creative with the the sighting. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

You can 'lap' the upper receiver to fix this. Wheeler sells an upper receiver lapping tool through Brownell's. Basically it squares up the receiver so the barrel doesn't sit cockeyed. It seems perfect for OCD-types like myself.

Edit: Seeing as how you edited your post for a spelling error you may be the type that benefits from the lapping tool. And seeing as how I edited my post to mention that, I may be the type that would want to rent said lapping tool off of you.
 
It is most likely the front sight has a slight cant to it.
If the front sight base is pinned, the cheapest fix is to take it off and drill and tap it and run set screws in conjunction with rock set.

Using an optic will obviously eliminate the need to align the irons, which is another easy fix, as mentioned.

This is funny.
I was just thinking about how when an NEA issue pops up, people love to jump in and proclaim that norincos aren't pretty but they never have issues...which made me think how very different this thread would have been if someone asked for help with an "NEA carry handle not aligned" issue....and now I read your comment and think that even in Norinco problem threads, NEA gets picked on :d

At the range past weekend I wanted to punch all the fanboys.
Who still weren't shooting any amazing groups.
Who still had a QUALITY brand rifle fall apart and fail to work correctly while shooting.
Who still couldn't stop spouting about how good their top tier rifles are. Soooo worth the money. Sooo easy to shoot accurately. "It just shoots itself".


OP; Front sight is canted. My former Norinco barrel was the same, rear sight was adjusted almost all the way to the side to compensate.
The suggestion of drilling and tapping the front sight and re-indexing its position is definitely the winner in this thread.
Barrel lapping will only move the barrel front to rear as its indexed with the pin. Lapping is useful for indexing barrel nuts on free float rails, not front sight alignment.

Idiots shoot all makes/models
 
Worst case, chop the A2 front sight post off the block, lose the delta ring/handguard/cap and get a free float handguard and optics. What problem? :p
 
Good news for me! I sent the upper back, and the fella's at Canada Ammo are agreeing that the front sight is all kinds of wrong. There's a new upper in the mail. Thanks Canada Ammo for your customer support. We appreciate it!
