I am trying to make an AR style sks for my first gun. Does anyone know of a way to mate an Ar15 carry handle to a SKS?

I was thinking of using a matador full length scope mount and trying to find a detachable carry handle that can connect to its picatinny rail.

Any ideas?

Well it's your rifle. But you might want to think about how you're going to look through that red dot. You'll either need a 6" cheek riser or work on your neck weld

One other option is to mount an AR style front sight to the front rail, would that line up with the carry handle sights or is there only one way to find out?

But, why? A low mounted red dot on a handguard rail makes sense. You just want an easier way to carry the SKS? Doesn't everyone drag it on a 20' rope behind them to prove its Russian/Chinese durability?

... now I want to see this monstrosity created!

I suppose it can built but it would be very difficult and unusable. Maybe you can get a quickrail and get a tapco stock (with a rail segment on the front :) ) and go from there.

I suppose you could call it, putting a hood scoop on a Lada.

As for putting on the carry handle, probably a full length rail would be required like a Kodiak Defense rail. Then you would need another section of rail to go up front to install an AR flip up sight. I remember a store in the area here had just that for the SKS but I can't remember what it was called. They still have it in stock though from the last time I was there.

Thanks for all the feedback. I honestly didn't expect to get this many responses but it sounds like everyone is in consensus on one thing. It's impractical if not completely unuseable.

So on a different note now to choose between the ati, tapco or matador stock. Is the sabertooth actually worth breaking the bank for?

Choate sks scope mount, get a carry handle from something like a DA 556 flattop, you can see the sks sights under the choate scope mount. It wouldn't be my cup of tea aesthetically, but to each their own, I'm sure I've built stuff that others would hate'too.

Don't make Stalin ghost cry in despair, keep the SKS in its most effective form = the way the Siminov designed it.

Want a cost effective first fun that u can dress up like an AR? Go buy a JR Carbine. They are the chit.

My original idea was to get this kit until I found out it was illegal in Canada

It appears nearly impossible to fab something up remotely close yet still functional yourself.
