Yes, this is the .44 QSPR (Quiet Special Purpose Revolver) developed by IAA Inc. in 1968-69 and used/tested by 'Tunnel Rats and in a few ambushes with the jungles of Viet Nam. It was fired from a modifed .44 S&W revolver (had almost no barrel). The 15 tungsten pellets and held/arranged in place by a 3-piece sabot. When fired the shot is propelled at sub-sonic velocities and the propelling gases are trapped and held within the case. Both features contributing to quiet functioning.
The other round was reportedly developed by Frankford Arsenal in the late 1950's. The hard lead projectile is held in the case by a shear pin. Upon firing, a piston post pushes the projectile out and is halted by the case. I've not seen a fired case, but assume the post would extend for some distance past the case mouth - which means that it would not be fired from a revolver, but rather a multi-barrelled hinge action weapon.
